I know a lot of guys out there go for the cheapest available when it comes to factory loaded ammo- but do you look for a specific brand?

I usually find myself looking for Federal branded ammo. Don't know why, really, although something makes me think its because I have the ballistics tables for Federal Ammo.

Since i discover the Hornady Superformance ammo did stop reloading for many caliber, this ammo perform like a handload and in some case i cant duplicate their velocity, very good quality price ratio... JP.

Only hornady for center fire (rifle) for me. My reloads use hornady bullets as well. For 22 rimfire I use mostly cci, winchester and federal recently. For hmr I just started using cci tnt or federal tnt

After the welding slag I found in Winchester steel 12ga shells I buy any other brand but Winchester. Sent Win a letter on it and never got a reply. In essence it seems they don't give a rats butt so I swore I would not buy any Win ammo again.

I had to give in in order to buy my 1906 Win model 94 in 38-55. It is getting all handloads with other than Win ammo parts where available.

Most of my rifles [except rimfires] have never seen any factory ammo.
If I had to shoot factory ammo, I like Norma the best. [good luck getting it!]
Eagleye.

Handloads for sure. But I have an Austrian deer rifle that really prefers Federal factory.
For rimfire target, SK Standard Plus and for small game hunting/gopher shooting Winchester Power Point. I'm still waiting for a Lyman Sabot Slug mould, until then it's Brennekes for the biggest & Winchester Fosters for deer. Now before I starting handloading for big game calibres, my .30 calibre deer rifles were mostly fed Winchester Silvertip or Remington Core-Lokt. Almost the same performance. Now the observation from me was, a slight nod to the old style Silvertips for terminal ballistics, but the Remington ammunition, was a tad bit more accurate at the rifle range. Whatever that means, because they both killed deer dead! ;)

When I use factory at all, it's Defence Industries.

I will NEVER forgive Mackenzie King for closing that plant; they made the best .303 ammo ever, ANYWHERE.

PRVI...
They make commercial ammo for all the rifles I shoot - and my mosin PU loves their 7.62x54r food.

I agree, shoots well and a good source for harder to find brass milsurp. ammo.
Some found at CanadaAmmo and TradeEx.
That's how I get by brass for reloading.

Federal blue box and then Winchester.
(I have one box of Prvi Partizan but I haven't shot it yet.)

Remington core-lokt doesn't load so well in my Husky 1640K.
