However, you seem to think that I was attempting to sum up the history of WWI and WWII in a short internet posting. So what does that make you? Incredibly naive? :runaway:

Facts are: Germans invaded other countries. Other countries used 303's to kill them. Many of those Germans did bad things to other humans. (of course, they were "just following orders" :rolleyes:

Moose never really did much bad stuff.:)

Yep, and they are rechambering them to 308, gee, I am pretty sure it is detrimental to the rifle, I know the action is pushed pretty hard by the 303, imagine shooting 7.62 NATO, bet they get loose real quick. Les

I used to work with a PH in Zambia and know the score well. I agree, the 303 might not be ideal, but it holds the crown on that continent.

Really, the only game I've shot with the 303 Brit early in my hunting career was deer, all in the brain at short range, all 1 shot, all very dead.

Can't see much difference close range between the 303 and the 308 win, 30-06, 7mm rem, 358 win 270 win or anything else practical for Canadian hunting, magnum or not. Put your shot where they live, it will die with the great 303.

Now where is Big Red to chew me out on head shots?:popCorn:

I wouldn't hesitate to hunt anything in North America with a .303. My 303 killed coyotes,deer (mule and whitetail), elk, moose, and black bear. Regards, Bill.
 
If my main rifle was a 303 I'd mostly be hunting for a new gun. Caliber is good, Enfield action is cumbersome. Safety mechanism is prone to fail on these old guns. Cartridge style leads to jams.
 
My cessna, your such an optimist. never had a problem with a rife that was well cared for. Remember, you occasionally gotta pull maintenance on them, not just throw them in a corner and hope they work. :D Les
