What can your 6.5 creedmore do that my .260 can't?

1000 words......

You need a new deck?

There would be no difference in the field but I do like the fact that bullets can be seated out farther to reach the lands and still stay within the confines of a S/A mag box. That's one reason I have prefered the long action.
.

How can you tell anything wrt to the lands in this picture?

Personally, I want my bullet to have nothing to do with the lands until it is fired. Seated deeper in the case is of no concern to me. Both the 260 Rem or the 6.5 CM could have long or short throats. My 260 Rem shoots Barnes or Berger just fine. Throated as per the factory.

Usable powder space or powder space you can use?
I have no issues getting 45 gr of H4350 into a 260 with a 130 Berger. Running 2930 from a 24" barrel. Or 120 TTSX nearing 3000 fps. Nothing special here.
The 143 ELDX is an issue for me. I can get it in the case with 43 +/- grains of RL 17 however it didn't want to shoot accurately from my mag fed repeater.
My single shot target rifle likes them however.

Are you able to beat the 260 rem velocity with all this long seated, land touching, case perfection from the 6.5 CM?

I own - got 2 6.5 CMs and a 260 Rem - Like em ALL ! RJ

I like this way of thinking. I don't get all the anger. If the 6.5 CM is super popular is that not a good thing? It means that all 6.5 users (who reload) are going to get a wider selection of bullets at lower cost. No one is taking away your rifle.

When I hear statements like this, I cringe. If the person who made this statement knew what type of impression he was making on knowledgeable shooters and hunters, he might be more inclined to hold his tongue.
With all due respect to the true long range hunters out there, I'll bet my socks that this guy has no idea how hard it is to consistently stay in 12" at 1000 yards. Having a 6.5 Creedmoor does not automatically make
one a 1000 yard whiz. The 260 and the CM are similar enough that the difference is negligible. Dave.

Nothing more needs to be said. That nail was hit squarely on the head.

I don't see anger... just a bunch of gun nutz doing what gun nutz do... splitting hairs arguing over subjective preferences, often playing "devil's advocate" because in fact, deep down we pretty much all agree.

Hitzy, I got out to try another bullet and powder. You ever get those groups shot that you were going to?

Not at 100m no... playing at 700-1000 mostly now with a 7mm Rem.
It's kind of boring shooting tiny groups at 100m. Hell even my 78 year old '98 Mauser in 9.3x62 can do that. With a 5x scope.

I did just splurge on a new stock for my 6.5CM...still not happy with the way it shoots in the Magpul stock, too much room for flex in the design.

building a ULTRA LIGHT mountain rifle on a Rem M7 right now - Choice is the 6.5 CM -Because it fits the action BEST for COAL and will perform right with a 260 Rem in that action lenght BEST all around choice in a SA - JMO RJ

In that rifle the 7mm SAUM will outrun both the 6.5CM and 260.
