I have a Mgnetospeed sporter that I bought 3 Christmas' ago. Works great never had any issues. Works on any barrel, sights or no sights. Data at your fingertips in real time and I like not having to walk out past the firing line to set up a hokey chrono with hoops to shoot through. Very simple set up and operation.I recently purchased a Magnetospeed Sporter that was dead on arrival, so I exchanged it and the replacement was dead too.
I'm not sure what that is all about but I was not able to get the first unit to read the bayonet, and the second unit appeared to have a dead control device.
Very weird..
Anyways.. what chronograph do you use? How do you like it?
I use a Caldwell one. You can connect it to your phone with an app to track sets, but I can no longer connect it to my phone because it uses the headphone jack to connect (its not wireless) and my phone doesn't have one. I have a usb-c to headphone jack cable that works fine to connect to the AUX In on my cars stereo but it doesn't seem to work for the chrono for whatever reason.
Chrono still works, but I've got to write down my result after each shot now.
It was cheap though, $99 on sale (plus I only paid half) so for what I paid it's still good.
I would love a Labradar but they're too expensive for me.
when I looked it up it didn't work on 22 cal (223 included)
perhaps it has been upgraded
I’ve never been able to get mine to work with 22LR.It definitely does .223, I have over 200 series on that alone. .22lr works fine too, the only thing I couldn't reliably get speeds on were .22cb because they are too quiet.
Would work fine with the airgun trigger available but I really don't care that much. With some small calibres in some conditions all you really need to do is take more care aiming it, which isn't hard. You may lose some resolution too (range).
Had a magneto for some time - my bullet speeds were about 100-125 feet slower than published data on multiple loads mainly due to a 22 inch barrel vs a 24 inch barrel. I am pretty confident going with published data speeds and then subtracting the difference. In my reloading records I listed all the speeds I got compared to published speeds. After some debate I decided to sell my Magneto sporter - now I hope I never lose my reloading records.
I’ve never been able to get mine to work with 22LR.
I’ve tried everything.
I still have my old Gamma Master which is what I use for 22LR.
I would appreciate any suggestions for getting it to work with 22LR.
Everyone keeps saying Labradar but the Bulletseeker looks like a much more refined setup.
I’m thinking second hand Labradars are going to be cheap once Bulletseekers become common.
Suther: My latest phone doesn't have a jack for an AUX cable or headphone, but an adapter cable is available. Works with headphones, so likely it will work on the Caldwell.
I'm not sure what to tell you. I don't do anything unusual for .22lr. Make sure it's set to pistol even if you are using a rifle as those choices are built around velocity not what you are using. Try setting distances just out to 25m. I have no issues tracking it to 75 or even 100 sometimes but it may help.
I doubt that. Anything that needs to be attached to the gun is still going to suffer from needing to be attached to the gun. Exactly why I have never bothered with a Magnetospeed. Good luck getting speeds off a pistol with no rail.
The Mark and Sam video shows he was able to use it like a Labradar. He had it mounted on a tripod beside the gun and it still worked.
Seems like the best of both worlds.
I didn't watch the video. Good to know, maybe I will try it one day.
