Enfield Number 1 mark III. I was so proud! Buddy chased three outta the spruce towards me on a hardwood ridge. A buck, doe and a fawn (i didnt know initially). The Buck and doe ran off thru the hardwoods...cranked a couple at them but no hitties. Turned around a saw one about 75 yards through the hardwoods. Thought that either the doe or buck had circled around behind me. Took the shot...high hit through the spine between the shoulders. Nope it was Bambi. Only had about 40 lbs of meat on it but I was smilin ear to ear. A newbie was hunting with us...he had never ever seen a deer (PE Islander). He was OMG..OMG...OMFG...look at that. He grabbed a gun and went off stalking the other two.
An hour Later that day. Another buddy showed requesting help. He had downed one and needed help getting it out. Well a caravan of bikes soon joined in. He had downed the biggest buck I ever layed eyes on. Spread on it out to here........................................................................................................
It made my first look like a roadkilled squirrel...but it was my first and they say you always remember your first no matter how crappy it was.
