I bought this .30-06 rifle today. I had it to the range and it shot about 3 inch groups. Of course I blame myself, the scope and the ammo as I'm sure it'll do at least 2 7/8 inch groups, but I got it for a price I couldn't refuse.
There are no real markings on it anywhere, but it does have a Parker Hale adjustable trigger. The barrel is marked Midland, made in England. I'm not familar at all with these, would Midland be an importer and does this look like a P.H.?
The reciever looks like a hybrid Mauser/Enfield, the bolt has a controlled feed 3/4 length claw extractor with a locking lug on the rear of the bolt and two lugs on the front. The bottom metal is fancy, with a rams head and scroll marks on the floorplate and scroll marks on the trigger guard. The stock appears to be walnut with a cheekpiece, I think pressed checkering and whiteline spacers with a buttplate, no pad. I thought the P.H. rifles I've seem were all Mausers or Enfields, I've never seen one like this. Any thoughts?
