What Do You Look For in a Black Rifle?

Thanks, everyone! Like 00aught says, I'm just trawling for opinions; I've got one black rifle in the safe, it's a C7A2 clone-a-like that I fit together a few months ago. Let's make things a bit more specific; if a new bullpup were to hit the market, what would it have to be able to do for you to consider buying it?

Why should they? Have you looked at what a BCM or Daniel Defence rifle is going for?

Thanks, I forgot about Daniel Defense, another great option for an affordable quality rifle.
Tavor is also a good NR choice if you like bullpups.

Sorry Brian, I still think the XCR is a decent rifle. I've never owned one but have shot quite a few of them and for the money they seem pretty good. I would definitely stick to the newer ones with all the latest revisions though. I've moved beyond wanting one myself as I have higher end stuff now but I wouldn't discourage someone from buying one if they like them and that's all their budget allowed.

As for the non resticted ACR I was told we probably won't see them till 3rd quarter 2014.

Hopefully the SAN thing will go way by then and make it an easy choice for me.

I would want it to be like my RFB but 223, use AR mags, have the mag release in a spot I could reach it without reaching behind the mag, more accurate than a Tavor, have a quick change barrel that returns to zero, and just for TDC it needs an adjustable length of pull. Hmmm... what else does he hate about bullpups? Who cares? Can't please everyone ;)

I know everyone loves them but I was disappointed and traded mine off. It was probably the best built most robust semi auto rifle I've ever held but there was too much flex so you had to hold it exactly the same every time or POI would shift. Just going from bipod to supporting it on the mag resulted in a 5 MOA shift in POI.
They are very nice but just not for me.

Even though I'm not a fan I'm still with you hoping this BS blows over and we get to keep them as an option.

Most factory bipods are intended for little more than keeping the rifle out of the mud when you put it down.

I like using them when I'm in the field shooting and hunting. At the range it's no big deal.

Great rifle just not for me, my HK is working out much better for my needs.
Soon I hope my ACR is working even better :) I hope to have a non restricted barrel for it before spring.

How it looks and how it makes me feel holding and firing that black rifle. Then I look at the fit and function, reliability and durability....a track record helps firm it up.

most if not all "black rifle" carbines are clasified as "restricted" by barrel length, where can you legaly "carry" these rifles around long enough that the weight from the extra barrel length becomes such an issue?.

I do consider different things than current classification only when purchasing the firearms plus my work exposes me to some different style of firearms handling beside ballistic masturbation.

Wow I need to get in to whatever that field of work is since it appears to allow you to carry your own restricted rifles unlocked other than the limited amount we regular civis only get at matches and ranges

As the title says, just interested to know what features you guys like to see in black rifles. Things like ambidextrous controls, rail options, etc.

Non-Restricted.
If I can't take it out hunting, plinking, etc., I quickly lose interest.

One Pic rail on top is needed, quad rails are goofy IMHO.

Research Research Research. Have a look at this!

looks are more important then reliability? No point on buying a ###y rifle if it wont go bang lol
