What do you look for when reviewing ads on the EE?

My searches in the EE have narrowed over time but when reviewing ads by various subscribers makes me wonder.

Ads that stretch over three pages are ignored. Why keep moving back to the top without making changes or starting over after deleting.

There is no movement in regards to price, sometimes something new is added or another shown as sold.

The moment there are ten replies to an EE it is not worth the effort of looking.

Maybe it is time for the administrators to have the ability to delete when something is just taking up space.

You can always shop someplace else if someone has bumped their EE advert more than 10 times, yes ?

I do make a practice of bumping my for sale ads in the EE. However, I also ensure that they are the lowest price for that item listed anywhere. So when I'm already the lowest price, moving down further isn't strictly called for.

I look for good photos, and short, clear concise ads. I’m a big fan of 1 item per ad, or 1 related group of items per ad.

Make it easy for people to find and view your stuff.

And I agree, after 3 or 4 “bumps” the ad should just time out and go away. If the seller wants to repost, they can, but having them expire will clean up EE a lot I think.

If the key info items are not in the title I don’t go further. Posted more than a month ago, I don’t bother looking. Constant bumping tells me the price is unreasonable and so is the seller. No point in attempting to negotiate. If I want it and the price is recent and reasonable, I’ll ask for photos of the areas I want to see better. Low transaction numbers I will not spend anymore than I’m comfortable losing.

I was reading that with this being the 20th anniversary of CGN there will be some updates and advancements in the site. Let's hope the EE sees some of that, maybe like some other places where you can Post your Gun.
Sooo much easier to place ads, browse, search, navigate and communicate.
Better not say anything else or I'll get a slap on the pee-pee...

I haunt reloading. Particularly the zero reply new ads. If it says something like " reloading bench clear out" and has 20 replies, it wasn't bargains or they're long gone.

I've btt'ed ads dozens of times. Looking for impossible to find stuff, or having dropped to my minimum selling price but still wanting to sell.

I don't think the site should change much. Someone selling a rifle, hasn't been btt'ed in two years, it's long sold/forgotten by the seller, unlikely costs much bandwidth.

I look for certain usernames, some people I know will offer fair prices, and good descriptions, other usernames, I avoid altogether, because their prices are always way above market value.

I have an ad that I keep bumping. Price is less than a gun parts supplier and it’s postage included, not courier added… just not something that is commonly needed. Will the world end if I don’t sell one today? No. But if someone needs to make their BT go bang and the rim impacter/denter is missing or busted, I’m your huckleberry until I run out of them.

Or, if it is something that you might need, and others don't, it can undergo a lot of bumps before you show up. Everything is worth a look; and if it is there too long, someone might be about ready to deal.

I look for trader ratings as well.

Hopefully one of the new site updates allows us to just post a pic without using a hosting site like lots of other forums have already
That should cure all the no picture complaints on the EE

Don’t be so cheap! Support Canadian Gun Nutz, buy a membership and you can post your pictures directly and easily. Or would you rather just keep your hands in your pockets so that you can complain instead of supporting.

I have my eye on a German-made “Gedore electrically insulated Torque Wrench” that’s posted in the Exchange of All Other Stuff.

Still on the fence, but thinking about it.

Then again, maybe I should keep my mouth shut in case somebody scoops it up before I pull the trigger.

I have one for sale.... cheap too, but I won't ship ........

I look for the “widget” I have an interest in. If it is something I would buy then I’ll contact them. Pics or not if it’s something I’m looking for I’ll ask for more info and pics. Pictures are great and help with impulse buys.

Pictures, price, location and please just be honest if there's something wrong with it.

As for bumps, I've had a few go into the second page but all have sold. As someone mentioned, sometimes you just need to find the one looking for that item.

I could counter your arguement by saying CGN is too greedy as lots of other forums don’t need paid memberships to post pics…

Well... perhaps, but a year membership can be as low as $25 - which some people drink in Starbucks in a couple of days or in a pub in a couple of hours. Or shoot at the range in half an hour or less. Costs me $25 in gasoline to go to the range and back.

Tells me lots...

It has pictures, no one else has seen the ad yet and if the price is fair...I'll be sending my info PDQ !!:p

No pictures and the seller will never get what they're asking...
