What do you think of this video?

Some good footage, and I liked the tunes, just wish the camera man had used a tripod at times. Kind of odd when the guide(I guess it was a guide) told the shooter to shoot again when only the ass of the moose was facing them.

great REAL Hunting video. It shows that moose can take a good hit and keep on going.I know there will be a lot of post's on 1 shot one kill to follow.

Here's the first of those. In most cases (and I say, most, because there are always exceptions to a rule), if you are sure of your first shot and the moose just stands there, you do not need to be shooting again. Let alone opening up on the animal like you're at Vimy Ridge. One shot through the vitals is just as good as three. Nine times out of ten, you watch them try and move after taking a solid hit, and they will topple over after just a few steps. In wide open ground like that in the video, she ain't going anywhere you can't.

I should add, I guess, that if you are not confident of that first shot, then by all means, keep shooting until you're happy. To me, you're just beating your meat, so to speak, but to each his own. ;)

I think the reason they continue to shoot, even you are confident in your shot or not, is to make the animal suffer as little as possible, i'd rather shoot it 4 times then just once and have it bleed out. to me its just out of respect for the animal.

I think you are kidding yourself if you think hammering an animal with bullets is somehow more humane. If that were the case, perhaps we shouldn't be permitting bowhunting. There are times when you need to keep shooting, but personally I do not think trying to kill an animal quickly because it is humane, is one of them.

I agree 100% If the moose took a shot in the vitals and did not even move. It's not likely in pain and it's a matter of time for it to drop. Unless you are close enough that it could feel the need to get spooked and run. In that case you've done you job well with no cause to the animal, as it should be.

On the other hand, like in the video with the cow. First two shots she didn't move but they were clear vital shot. the third shot had obviously caused it serious pain and it was not down. In that case if you've gone that far you should be be knocking the heart out of it and putting it out of the misery.

What do you do, there's no real right or wrong.

Great video, some real nice footage.

Camera definatly needs a tripod. But overall good video, don't see anything wrong with it. Looks like Tons of moose up there!

actually i like this video a lot, it shows lots of hunting, lots of moose not like most shows where it shows all the useless #### like packing and shooting the #### so to speak. This video is pure action!!!!

If you feel confident enough that your shot was in the vitals and Bullwinkle is going down then all the power to you.
If it was me taking the shot and the big ol swamp donkey just stood there like that i'd definitely pump another into his boiler to be sure. Just incase the first wasn't doing its job for whatever reason. If he was still standing there after 3 decent shots I think I'd be checking my bore for stuck bullets!:D

From what I am seeing, the moose was quartering away from them on the second shot, not azz on?

X1. Also, you can't see the shooter from the camera angle and it could still be less of a quartering shot to him. I would have for sure taken it from the camera angle without a second thought.

I enjoyed it. Nice to see the young fellows out hunting too.

Yes, it's VERY unnerving to put a good quality bullet at good speed into a moose from under 60yds low in the chest right behind the front leg broadside and not even see a muscle twitch.

I'm also of the opinion to shoot till it's down (as long as the angle is good), for the simple reason where I hunt moose if it goes into the thick stuff good luck to you finding it if it manages to go further than you think it could. You simply may never see it again, and I wouldn't want that. In open country, I could see forcing yourself to count to 30 while at the ready.

Unless of course it's heading Towards the truck, then I may be tempted to count to 30, but it doesn't seem to work that way.:)

Thing is too that those moose are out on the open farmland. In the bush or thicker re-gen. poplars you hit them once and they walk out of sight. Follow up on the tracks and find bullwinkle dead forty yards ahead. On this open country one wonders why their round has little effect. In all reality if one shot was put in the boiler room it would just be a matter of waiting for the animal to fall over. I'm of the school of putting another round throgh the ribs if I can.

Not being familiar with moose hunting in Sask, do you just drive around and look for moose standing in fields? Doesnt hunting lose something by doing that?

Not trying to be offensive, as I know some guys in Ontario drive logging roads looking for moose....it just seems strange to me. Not how my group does it all.

Yeah the camera work is pretty brutal. I'd be careful about posting a vid using music you haven't bought the rights too, esp with the Outdoor productions company graphic at the start. Most of that music is 10k for one time use like that video.

Nice way to close hunting on the opening day. But I never seen that many mooses in my whole life. How and where people get that many moose tags---? And I would hit it again may be not 4 times but again for sure, so good job- --- final verdict
