G96 spray works on my 686 with a brass brush. Spray it on and let sit for about 10 minutes then gently "scrub" with the brass brush and wipe clean with a soft rag.
Hoppes no9 and nylon scrubber.
Fitz polish and a microfiber cloth. Cleans it up in no time.
Never thought of using Flitz, I'll try it next time.
You do what you want with your guns, leave the carbon there is the last thing I'll do on mine; Magic cloth or Lead Away cloth are the best for a stainless gun (not on blued gun)Don't kid yourself the Lead Away cloth is a very mild abrasive but never the less it is an abrasive. My advise is just leave the carbon there, it hurts nothing.
