what does a 6.5 creedmore do that a 6.5 x 55 doesn't?

It doesn't fit .308 mags. It has its own magazine specification. For example, The X-Bolt has their own 6.5 Creedmoor magazine. It is not a .308 necked down to a 6.5. That would be the .260Rem. The 6.5 Creedmoor is necked down from a .30TC which is a shorter and fatter casing than a .308.

6.5CM works fine in 308 mags...
30TC is a modded 307Win case, which is really a rimmed 308, nothing more.

Have you tried loading the magazine full with 6.5 Creedmoor? The casing is fatter so many magazines for .308 using 6.5 Creedmoor will loose capacity. That is specifically why Browning does a separate 6.5 magazine for it.

Browning probably does it to be lawyer safe. They also mark 270Win and 30'06 seperate, but they are the same identical mag.
Max OAL is what matters, and the 6.5CM and 308 are the same 2.800 give or take.
Other manufacturers like Savage/Remington just mark "short action" and "long action" for 308/30'06 based cartridges.

The race to the bottom guns would not even have any distinction in size from LA and SA mags ....or actions.

For example T3 is one size fits all. Simply a bolt stop for short action. I am sure some of the $400 tack drivers described are the same....negating even more a supposed 2 ounce advantage for short actions. If that matters(2 oz), get another sport, something with a fitness component.

Actually, long actions and long magazines would be a advantage for 6.5 cm. Extra space to seat long VLD projectile to longer than SA mag length and longer Coals to chamber close to the lands.

Which short action has a hard time accepting the CM. This is painful to watch.

If I am going to use a long/standard action, I want long action performance.

Short action performance in a long action was okay for 100 years ago, but just isn't cool these days. ;)

I have a winchester extreme weather 270 win that I want to re-barrel to 6.5-284. I'll go with a 26" barrel. I wouldn't want a creedmoor on a long action, theres no point.

after 367 post I have the answer ! The 6.5 creed pisses old fudds off and sends them on a rant about the world not being the same as when gas was 25 cents a liter . the beloved swede does not

Tell that to Tikka!
One of my most accurate rifles is a 1975 Win M70 in 222. They only made long action then, so the mag spacer is the same length as the cartridge.

What exactly are you talking about, how does it relate to my post? Forget it, enjoy your day and confirmation bias. Lost cause.....another one to the list.

I think your last statement.

6.5 CM was designed to fit the longest bullets seated to the proper length in a short action so no, it doesn't benefit from being put in a long action. I understood him completely.

This I think captures it.

People who already own a 6.5 whatever seem to be upset that a new 6.5 is popular. I'm sure this would have been the fight when the .308 WIN was introduced if the internet had existed back then.

Yes, the slowest 6.5 cartridge available is someone magically superior to all the rest because it fits into a short action and has cheap factory match ammo available lol.
How does it handle 160gr pills? Oh right, it doesn't.

Wrong again...
