The PRS and F-class crowd are big into 6mm and 6.5mm both of which shoot flatter and drift less than a 308win. 6.5 Creedmoor stays sonic out to 1600 yds. I believe the 308 win stays sonic to 1200-1300 yds. 6.5 also recoils less so the shooter can spot his shots. The traits that make a creedmoor a good long range target rifle also make it an accurate hunting cartridge. At long range it retains its energy better than a 308. Of course there's no real difference at normal hunting ranges but the CM gets it done with less recoil. I believe the Creedmoor would be an excellent choice for a light weight hunting rifle, by the way! Kimber chambers it. I don't own a creedmoor or any cartridge in 264cal. I hunt with a 270win. If I was going to buy a new rifle and the choice was between the 6.5 CM or 6.5x55, I would go with the CM without hesitation. I have nothing against the swede or the 260rem, they are excellent cartridges, every bit as good as the CM for hunting. I think the CM would be a better all around cartridge for me. Its all about splitting hairs, with all cartridges.
