What firearm do you use to hunt your grouse with?

16 gauge sxs but the truck gun is a Savage 22/410 OU. No choice in the poll. The 16 packs well and the shot will carry through the brush and is effective in heavy cover. When I first started using the 16 last year it was deadly as I had used a 410 for decades and now could not seem to miss with the heavier pattern. Everything is back to normal now and missing regularly again.

I have been using .22lr and .17hmr. Depending where I am going that day. I prefer the .17 especially in the open areas, but my 10/22's are just fun to shoot so they typically get out a couple times a year. Open sites are handy in the bush too, one disadvantage to the .17.

i use my marlin GG in 45-70 loaded with #9 birdshot 410 cut down wads capped with a ball of wax.

Great to hear of people using their "black looking" guns out hunting game. The more we use them, the less fearsome looking they become. Plus , it proves that their utility is not limited to "assaulting people" as many would have the uninitiated believe.

Boxlock 20 gauge and sidelock 12 (both English-style, Ugartechea), and a Remington model 31 in 20 are my go-to guns now. Sometimes a 20 ga. Remington 1100, but not often. My first gun was my only gun, Winchester 2200 12 ga. But it did the job. I still remember the first time I hit a flushed bird with that gun. And I was hooked.

Whatever I am hunting with at the time. Only one season did I actually go out to hunt grouse with a 12 gauge after my deer or moose was down.
270, 280 30-06 and 338 Win Mag have been used to make head shots.
With the 338 one grouse was shot at 38 paces.
While criticized for shooting a grouse while hunting deer, on one occasion a deer was harvested 5 minutes later.
Just this year, while putting up a target with an impact screw driver, a doe vacated her bed, and while shooting, a doe and 2 fawns vacated theirs.
