What firearms or accessories needs to be manufactured in Canada?

For those thinking of a bolt action bull pup rifle... what about a magazine fed pump action bullpup? By changing the action from a bolt to a pump means never having to remove your hands from the fore end or the grip. I imagine there are rotating bolt systems out there that could be copied like an AR barrel with no gas port, barrel extension and bolt head but make everything else about the rifle proprietary so those three things are the only AR based items... or some other idea like that. With using AR barrel & bolt then .223 Wylde, .308Win, 300BLK and others could be done easily as tghe tooling is done for them: just order AR barrels with no gas port.

Then you could clone a Desert tech trigger system and use standard or proprietary standard (20-30) capacity magazines. Making it a pump action allows it to be stable, a fast action, no changing hand positions and non-restricted.

I like the way you think. Basically the action system you described is that used in in the Troy PAR. Simple, cost effective and it works. The PAR is a nice little rifle. Light, fast handling and more accurate than most semi autos. I love mine. It's not bolt action accurate but I suspect with a better barrel than it came with it could get very close. It would be very easy to incorporate a simmilar bolt carrier group and pump mechanism into a bullpup chassis. The best thing a bolt or pump action has going for it compared to a semi auto is that the barrel can still maintain a completely free float, even in a bullpup.
One thing people have to realize is that a bullpup configuration rifle is going to have a higher cost regardless of the action type. There's just that much more to get right especially the trigger group.
I guess whether you want a pump or bolt all depends on your intended use. For hunting I'd still prefer a bolt action for the simple reason of it having the best accuracy potential. I believe in making the first shot count. But for most other uses I could see myself grabbing the pump

Yes!

Would love to see some parts that just don't come up all too often in Canada.

Folding 870 stock. Something similar to the old Sage stock. Though they still exist, they're impossible to find here.

Anything is pistol calibre. Something like a 9mm bullpul would be very cool (design wise, an alloy Keltec RDB Survival, but less superfluous).

Heck, even a tiny little bolt gun like a Delisle. For this id want to use a natural 10 round magazine. We know Beretta mags work in a semi, or even a .45 with a 1911 mag. Steel mags or bust.

Lastly, alloy baseplates for all sorts of 5 or 10 round mags. Nothing uglier than a short mag.

Would love to see a Canadian Made Baikal clone of the Side by Side or Over/Under variety in 45-70, like the MP-221. 18.5 Inch barrels or similar.
Would make great brush guns.
Maybe a genuine Canadian Made Lever Action a la Henry octagon barreled 45-70 or other calibers?
Just a thought!

definitely throwing my vote in for a PCC in 7.62x25mm. Was talking with a buddy of mine about just that last month, so having someone R&D and Fab one up would be epic.

Someone else mentioned 10rnd 5.56 Pistol mags in 20 & 30 round lengths. Definitely have to vote yes for that as well! almost more so than the x25mm PCC ><

If manufacturing new SKS rifles is possible, would it be possible to make it in other calibers? x39 is a definite must, but would 5.45x39, 5.56 and maybe pistol calibers even be possible? Or, maybe beef it up a bit and try .308? an SKS in .308 (as blasphemous as that is to some people) I think would be an awesome little rifle.

Just my 0.02$ though
