I'd love a Grand Power K22 to go with my X-Calibur. It fits in the same holster, has the same feel as the full size, large mags for practicing mag changes and a DA/SA trigger...How cool is that! What a great way to get tons of high volume training in, that's cheap on the wallet and easy on the tendonitis.
I just got the last gun on my must have list, a walther ppk in stainless in .380acp. Now it's just a question of if anything catches my eye (read that as impulse buying). These guns come and go as my with my interest, but my permanent collection (at least the main base) is complete, at least till the next one comes along. Maybe it's my age, but I find most of the new whiz bang type firearms to be more gimmicky than useful. I prefer the classic lines
I'm of two minds when it comes to .22 versions of 9mm semi autos. I had a K22 and found it to be much less reliable than I would have hoped. It, along with the K100 I had have since been sold. The K22 partly due to frustration with it failing to run smoothly and partly (along with the K100) because I reached the conclusion that I just don't care for polymer guns.
I've come to the conclusion that.22 semi auto handguns are best left to Browning Buck Marks and Rugers
With the exception of the CZ .22 kit, sound conclusion. The CZ kit is dead nuts reliable and as accurate as any recreational .22.

Strangely, I managed to get a completely unreliable CZ kit from the EE. When installed on my EE sourced used Shadow 1 it would FTF 50+% of the time in single action mode. If I dropped the hammer and pulled the trigger in DA mode it would go bang everytime. Not sure if the problem was with the .22 kit or my Shadow but since I'm not much of a tinkerer and have little patience with stuff that doesn't work I ended up selling it (with full disclosure of the issues I was having) on the EE.
Interesting. From what I've read the Ed Brown is much more finely finished but the LB is as good internally. I do like pretty things but at what cost?
Maybe I should just hold my nose and jump in with both feet and go Wilson Combat.
Hey you want something that you will never feel like you compromised on and that is impeccably finished, go for it. The benefit of going into Wanstalls is that you can usual handle 3-5 of the top end 1911 brands.
Of all the higher end brands, LB is best value proposition imo. The finishing on the Wilson, Nighthawk and Brown is a level above the LB though as you note, and accordingly they will run a minimum of $1200 to $1500 more than the LB. I've been hard pressed to tell a difference between the Wilson, Nighthawk and Brown - they all look and feel equally beautiful to me.

Sadly, dates on the Brno keep getting pushed back, and the I bet the new production Auto Mag is a year out assuming we get any in Canada. I was hoping there would be demos and updates coming out of Shot on these guys but so far I've seen nothing.

Note to self: never visit Wanstalls lol
My biggest fear with buying a high end 1911 is that, being left handed and not the greatest when it comes to manual dexterity, I would probably put an idiot scratch on it in fairly short order.
I would like to grab a mint S&W Model 52-2 in 38 special wadcutter for a while.
This will have to wait... I have so much unfinished ongoing project and not enough money to complete them.

I will be in Vancouver for almost 3 weeks in April. Will have to repeat this over and over in my head while I'm there.
Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in .300 WinMag. For a Christmas/Birthday present my girlfriend wanted to get me a gun. That gun was very nearly a Model 70 until I reasoned that I couldn't afford $2000 in glass to put on it, so she got me a Vector Gen II CRB .45, which would have been my answer to this thread had she got me the Model 70.

I've never seen one either. Only model that I'm aware of that could have made it up here is the Georgia State Patrol commemorative .45 Colt model 26-1 with the 5 inch barrel. Only 800 made in 1987.
Still, I'm very happy having found a NIB stocking dealer special 625-5 stainless full lug 5" in .45 Colt and this one, a scarce model 25-9 in .45 Colt cataloged in 1990 only, it's very accurate and prints sub 3" groups at 25 meters offhand with S&B 250gr lead ammo.

I'm OCD about that stuff too. An idiot scratch on a 4K gun would make me cringe and kick-myself every time I saw it. It would definitely detract from the fondle factor. Flip side is I'd probably shoot it more.
I've got an Ed Brown and there are little plastic pieces you can buy (or you can make your own) that prevent idiot scratches, I've never even come close to scratching mine using these things...so, no excuse.
