The deers IMO have a very short attention span, gun shots don't do a whole lot of disrupting unless it is constant repetitive shooting.Even then they will return after a while.
I have had them bust me in my stand and return an hour or two later.
I have bears and deer in my spot, they may not feed at the same exact time but they do not seem to push one or the other out of the area.
I am sure that your area and here in central Sask is much different in comparisons, but from my many years of watching and hunting deer it sure seems that environment as well as their natural cycle of rutting and reproduction dictate the movement. Food supply in my area is very constant and consistent so I cannot comment on that aspect.
They do likely the barley I put out for them though.
