What happened to the "Masterpiece Arms MPA" that BlueLine was supposed to import???

What is ridiculous IMO is to pre-sale 100+ of them to customers before the final production rifle had been sent, approved and received back from the RCMP Lab in Ottawa.

I don't think anyone has signed up for that rifle blindly. Advance funding works for all kinds of things. If it means a new NR rifle that is Canadian made then even better.

I'm surprised some or all these gun companies and importers aren't getting together and launching a class action lawsuit against the RCMP for lost sales over the length of time it takes to classify a fierearm. Hell my name wouldn't be on any paperwork but I would happily contribute some money to the lawyer's fee.

Actually, that may be possible under NAFTA (for the manufacturers) - a similar lawsuit would be possible under the new Canada-China FTA. There's a section that deals with lost profits through bureaucratic interference.

But still don't hold your breath on the MPA.

Why not? There isn't a full-auto version of the MPA that's ever been built.

I'm not holding my breath, but I haven't seen anything listed about the gun that lead me to believe that it wouldn't be non-restricted - other than "how it looks". :/

The gen 2 is supposed to have a number of improvements over the first gen, but still there is not a lot of ink on this rifle even South of the border.

InRange TV did a review of the Gen II recently, InRange TV, and it was not favourable.

Some of the faults they noted:

Forend is too large, and adds too much weight to the front

Muzzle brake is weird, and unnecessary for a 223 round.

Their rifle produced many light strikes on high quality, factory ammo

Forend + oversized muzzle brake = too hard to take down to clean the piston which is recommended every 500 rounds(!!!)

Charging handle impacts stock locking nut, cutting a groove

Stock retaining bolt came loose during use causing stock to fold
