what happened to the t97 posts

I am very concerned that the Type 97A will be classed as prohibited because it is a bullpup but that doesn't make sense because there are other bullpups out there already. Maybe the RCMP is concerned about the fact that we can use 10 shot LAR15 pistol mags in them. Who knows. I wrote a letter to CFC with all kinds of questions about the status of our T97's. Just waiting for a reply.

please , no more speculating . i really dont want to lock this thread .

Give your head a shake do you hear anything ??????Thought so!!! LMAO you really are Naive do you think that anyone that is in business is going to commit several hundred thousands of dollars of thier money buying a product that has not been approved as a legal import by both the CFC and the RCMP. Cam Am has approval but the problem is the CBSA .They do not like to follow the laws of Canada they make there's up as they go along seeing as they have nobody to answer too. Give the guy a break already

WTF - Why do these threads keep getting locked (or in the last case, deleted)? If a bunch of guys want to ##### about a shipping delay, is that somehow violating a board rule???

Bullpup stocks are prohib. Like aftermarket stocks that enable you to take a mini14 and make it into a bullpup.

In general, any bullpup that can fire without the stock makes the stock a prohib device.

I don't think the type97 can be made prohib on that rule. Only on an OIC or if they say the receiver is a converted auto.

Those who know more than me will tell me if I said anything wrong.

That sounds bang on to me Throttle Monkey (no pun intended)... It is an export version that is SA only, and I don't think anything has been OIC'd in a long time (Even the CX4 Storm wasn't OIC'd after that Dawson - Montreal issue). I really think that RCMP verification just takes time, and once they determine that it falls under the law, they will be released. Please everyone don't give the CFC any reason to start any extra poking around and get OIC happy. It's likely that this was the sequence of events...

CBSA Container guys verify all weapons shipments.
Guy opens it up and says 'Hey this looks naughty.. it's not gonna be my ass that goes down for letting it into the country, if it's not supposed to be here.'

Fills out some paperwork seizes the shipment, passes a sample off to the RCMP.

RCMP guy that has no gun bias either way but maybe says wow this thing looks cool, takes the measurements tries to pull the stock off etc... fills out a report and quotes the relevant legislation.

Sends it back to the CBSA, and they release the shipment.

We all die of boredom because we have nothing to talk about any more once we get the fancy little rifles.

:)

They won't keep your cash if it is. I think they would definitely appeal it though.

Remember, the RCMP can basically reclassify at will. With any semiauto. No point worrying or speculating and getting in a panic. I did that Monday and yesterday. It didn't help.

ugh .. i didn't even BUY one, but my only concern is that I hope this does not bankrupt CanAm!!!!!!!

They really are a reputable gun shop that is very high on my personal list...

EDIT - hehe doesn't that sound like they paid me to say that? LOL didn't even hit me till i press'ed send and re-read it.. Hey can am, if your not bankrupt after this .. you should hire me as a spokesman!!!

I'm with you. Whats with this censorship or deleting

The two thread under Can-ams forum got deleted last night after I complained about their poor service and the fact they billed my credit card for a rifle they didn't even have in their store.

I also pointed out that why we wait and some of us pay 21% on our credit cards for a rifle we don't even have. They are making interest on our money somewhere in the 4% range. Or as I estimate it $3000 month (based on a 1000 gun order)
Bottom line is they should never of charged us for a item we don't have. I can only assume what will happen if this type-97 order doesn't get released.

Then you will be reimbursed. It's out of canams hands. The RCMP has one rifle, customs has the shipment. Canal is a good dealer, you will be taken care of.

CanAm likely had to take payment before customs because the Chinese factory usually requires payment for a container before it is offloaded from the ship.

That said, I think CanAm has handled this poorly. Instead of locking threads, they should create one thread in their forum, which they lock. That way ONLY THEY can post, because admins can post in locked threads.

In that thread, they should post one post EVERY day at the end of the day. Even if it is just to say: 'we've heard nothing from the RCMP or the CBSA, we'll update again tomorrow.'
