I was really curious to see what would happen if a loaded round would go off if you were to hit the primer or try seating it deeper and it ignited. this is in response to the thread started here, High-primers-on-loaded-rounds. i was pretty sure i knew what would happen, but a bit more happened then i anticipated. the video is a 135gr lead bullet with 3gr of tightgroup and a dominion primer. you can see how i set up my testing from the video and pictures. it's not a perfect representation because the priming pin/punch is the size of the primer and wouldn't retract upon ignition of the primer. with all that i would still seat a primer deeper as it's not likely to go off as there is no sharp hit on the primer to set it off, however i may just shield myself a little better lol.

you can see the primer cup stuck on the firing pin. i couldn't find the bullet unfortunately. all the brass was attached to the case, there was no shrapnel.

I had a feeling you would try this when I read the other tread.

You are more adventurous than me. My wife would kill me if I did that at home :D

waited till i was alone in the house :) the more push back i got/get the more i want to see what would actually happen.

Wow! A good test of what we play with.

What hit the white box in the doorway?

not sure, it was mostly sawdust etc flying off the bench and the black bit was electrical tape.
