I was really curious to see what would happen if a loaded round would go off if you were to hit the primer or try seating it deeper and it ignited. this is in response to the thread started here, High-primers-on-loaded-rounds. i was pretty sure i knew what would happen, but a bit more happened then i anticipated. the video is a 135gr lead bullet with 3gr of tightgroup and a dominion primer. you can see how i set up my testing from the video and pictures. it's not a perfect representation because the priming pin/punch is the size of the primer and wouldn't retract upon ignition of the primer. with all that i would still seat a primer deeper as it's not likely to go off as there is no sharp hit on the primer to set it off, however i may just shield myself a little better lol.

you can see the primer cup stuck on the firing pin. i couldn't find the bullet unfortunately. all the brass was attached to the case, there was no shrapnel.
this was primer only with a standard crimp.
