These little guns are affordable, reliable, simple, and really lightweight. Mine in 17hmr is surprisingly accurate. They make great backpacking/survival rifles for small game. On other forums I've seen a lot of people like to modify/customize/add to them. Lets see what CGN has done.

Here's mine in 17hmr.
I found the factory sights were a bit tough to use and the plastic top rail was flimsy. Replaced it with a metal top rail and temporarily put this nikon spur on it to see if the rifle can shoot straight. As a long term optic, that doesnt rely on a battery, I have a new metal rear site to replace the plastic one it came with and I'm looking for something taller and metal to replace the front plastic sight that I've heard a lot of people breaking.
I also removed the bottom rail and milled into the receiver a bit so the rifle will now fully fold. I have no idea why they didnt come like this from factory.
Put on a metal thread protector I had laying around and some rail cover grips to fit in the hand easier.
Lastly I did a paracord wrap around the wire stock tonight which also fastens a knife/sheath that I added to a random order a while ago. Fit perfect with minimal trimming and already had the eyelets on it. Had the rifle with me all last weekend (zip tied in place at the time as a test) and the knife never fell out once. There is 40ft of paracord used in a 4 wire braid and in the core of each piece is 7 strands of thread. Could possibly come in handy, I'd rather have it than not. Also makes the wire stock a bit more comfortable on the cheek.

I have one in 22wmr. Shot a few grouse with it and a few gophers.
Honestly they feel cheap and I quite a few miss fires if I don’t slam the action closed with some force.

It been put aside as my live stock slaughter gun. Works alright for that.

I really like the concept of them. But definitely needs to be refined. I’d easily spend double what they are worth if some quality was put into them

Just push the lever forward before you fire. Guarantee it will go off every time if you do that. Will post pics of mine tomorrow. I actually really like the platform. I have one in 22lr and 22wmr. The lr is quite accurate and reliable. Loves sk magazin. I'm working on the 22mag.

Why can’t I post attachments like upload a picture?
I found the sights are cheap, and off. I have the 22 mag, and it shoots 5” high at 25 yards. I made the blade come to the point, as it was so fat, and took off all the rails except the top one, will likly replace the top rail with a metal one.
Looking for better no battery option for the sight. I like having irons, but also considering putting a pistol scope on it.
Any suggestions for that? Cheap, simple and reliable?
Anyway, I also made a new wire stock. 1/4” steel rod, but I found something important; the thread on the wire stock is m6x1, not 1/4” thread, and you have to file one side flat.
I made i so the stock pitches down a couple inches from where it is on the factory stock. This does 2 things; when you shoulder it, it brings the sight up infront of your eye without having to bend your neck Down that much(not really concerned with the recoil) and also it fold up tight, with the bottom wire right against the barrel, and the top rail a few inches above that.
So the ting is really about 18”x5” folded

MkivSupra ! It's the complete rear sight assembly that I have lost. It looks like it is made of unobtainium... If you would shoot me a private message with your email adress, I will send you shipping money plus $ 20. .
Thank you !

Dominik

I pulled off all the cheap plastic rails and the ridiculous sights (my rear sight was twisted and cracked when I received it anyway), then made an ebony forend and did a few other modifications. Carved a little bit into the bottom of the receiver to allow the trigger guard and locking latch lever to tuck in closer, allowing a much closer folding for stuffing it into a pack. Mounted an aluminum rail after pulling out the barrel (heat gun to soften the glue) and drilling/tapping threads for 10/32 bolts to mount the better quality picatinny rail. The scope is labelled 'Fire Wolf' and offers a fixed magnification of 4.5x, about right for a .22lr which I don't expect to use beyond 50 yards. Bought the scope from an eBay seller for the $56 I paid last year. Only one I can find now is over $90 shipped, more than I'm willing to pay considering the slight distortion around the edge of the image, but still a good little scope which is nicely scaled for this folding rifle.

You mean push the lever to break the action Foward?

I’ll have to try that this weekend. Thanks

There is something beutiful about a minimalist firearm. Something that embodies the idea of the bare minimum of a functional firearms Chiapas only falls short on this in 2 regards; the base sights are not as good as that could be and the stock could be tweaked to be tighter. That being said, perhaps the appeal is that it can be improved with a little effort.

I still dont understand why chiappa didnt make them fold fully like this. That and metal sights/rail, simple ghost ring type setup would make these sell like crazy

Added:
Longshot barrel cover
Longshot muzzle protector
Longshot pic rail
Longshot delrin foregrip
Feyachi RDS
Orange Paracord (for smooth cheek weld, stoutness, being able to see it in the woods if I set it down, emergency use)

Maybe robbed a little of the minimalist element but it's still very small and light and I can shoot it a lot better and more comfortably now.

Just saw this now. That is one sleek little badger!

Also bumping this thread cause a thread about pistol grips got traction with modified little badgers. A search couldnt find this thread for whatever reason but I'd love to see more!

I really like the little badger and customized mine with carbon fibre 3D printed parts such as new front sights, foregrip and rear grip. I also machined an adapter to use a skinner peep sight. This thing is way more solid than the oem plastic. Made a knob to allow quick field takedown to two pieces when I need that extra level of compactness.
