What is 30-30 good for?

Kombi, you is not so nice today, is ya??
Although I gatta admit, the 95' tweaks me more thasn a '94.
However, once the " family inheritted "card is played, everything else is "just a rifle"!

My pre'64 model '94 isn't drilled and tapped for a receiver sight but my newer 1894 is. I just mounted a tang sight to the pre'64 one and it is a lot more accurate and faster to use than the original buckhorn sight. I just measured that it's 3" from the sight to my glasses - which I always wear - so I'm not too concerned about poking myself with it. Plus it is a 30-30 so it's not like it recoils much.

30-30 is good for every dam thing in BC Popcan , it may not be a 3500fps rifle and may not be a 400 yard rifle but there is no game that can outlive a 170Gr round nose bullet at 100 yards

I guess there is no more factory .32 special being made?

What other calibers are still current that are good deer/black bear medicine?

:? I can see I am now on that slippery slope.....

I can still purchase factory new Winchester .32 Special from almost every store that sells ammo. Canadian Tire is one of my favourite places to get it if the Powderkeg is closed. I own a pre 64 Win 94 in that caliber and I will never part with it.....my father would kill me if I did seeing that it was his

It's a perfect gun for sitka, or even chasing blacktails around locally. Makes a great 'scout' or truck gun too.

it's not even that bad to sling over your shoulder when you're out upland bird hunting - hey, you just never know what' you'll see, :)

It's also fun for breaking in newbies. Doesn't kick so bad, looks 'cool' in a john wayne sort of way.

it's also cheap to shoot - great plinker rifle.

Not even a bad bear defense gun around here - a blackie won't stand up to 170 grain bullets out of a 30-30 for long.

Hell, he can't even hit a grouse with that new 20g of his so a 30-30 isn't going to help him :p

So, the scottish lassie has returned from the land of men dressed in skirts!

Just so you know, I fired the first shot OVER the grouse's head to get him to flush.
I don't like shooting runners like some people!

So far the score for 5 shots fired is: 20g : 4, ........ grouse: 1

Actually, neither will a grizzly. Take it from someone who knows. 8)

Not what I would choose if I knew it was going to happen, but it's sure a lot better than a spear!

Bone Collector is invited too... you got a week to get here

YOU'RE ON 8)

You know what, talking about breakfast, one of the great things that i enjoyed when i was back in Scotland was, i would go down to the village in the morning to the local butcher, (they were open @ 7:30 am and buy a selection of sausage, bacon (Ayreshire) black & fruit pudding slices, fresh free range eggs and freshly baked Scottish bread rolls and back to the farm and cook breakfast-----AWESOME.

The most difficult thing to endure when leaving to come back was going thro duty free at the airport and looking at several hundred bottles of 'Malt' and trying to decide which one to buy :?

Actually, from what it sounds like, we should all go there instead!
