What is it with guys needing pics of guns??

I need to Vent here for a moment, Ok so I am trying to sell a couple of nice older, but well looked after shotguns. I give a fantastic written desciption of each gun identifying each and every minor scatch from top to bottom, the age of the gun and how long I have had it for and how much they have been used and what I have used them for. And on top of it all I'm looking for maybe $ 300.00 tops. How the hell did you ever buy a gun before digital photography!! Don't folks know what an A5 looks like?? Ithaca 37?? Winch mod 50?? Now I could see it if I was selling a pair of Purdeys for $ 25.000.00, but I ain;t !! Love you all FS
 
you didnt buy guns over the internet before digital pics...

picture tells a thousand words, and helps when you're gonna be forking over $$$$ for something you want to be in good condition.

how many people used to buy used guns sight unseen??? Id guess not alot

i would never buy any thing worth more than a few $$ with out a picture.
its just a little peace of mind knowing what the actuly item looks like.
also, some times people are looking for just that look, and a writen discription will not show how the lines of the gun flow. (or what ever else some one may be looking for)

A5? Win 50??? Not a clue....I've seen Ithaca's though!

Take a Savage 99 for instance, everyone knows what they look like but can they see what variation out of about 50 of them it is by a description, nope.
 
As Joe says, sometimes useful for pinning down a model--but most camera users pics are marginal for determining condition. Its more of a pain in the ass when guys who have no intentions of purchasing ask for pics--I have sent out enough to fill an album and very few who have received the pics have the courtesy to let me know they are not interested in pursuing a deal--bad manners.

I prefer pic than written descriptions
I prefer (frequently updated) websites than visitng (out of province) stores
I prefer email than long distance call for details about the purchase...

oh, I prefer EMT than MO ;)
 
I use to offer a 3 day inspection.All money returned except shipping if not happy. DAN>>>
Had 1 guy years ago that wanted to return a gun after he fired off the 60 rnds of ammo I sent with it.:rolleyes: He then said it was just not what he wanted. DAN>>>:mad: ;)
 
I love it when guys ask for pics:D ...especially of guns that are described as "like new" or "nearly new"..I've scooped many a good deal while the others were asking for pics:) or waiting for thier wives to make up thier minds...

"I'll take it"......the new battle cry of the internet gun trader;)
 
Good pics = Description insurance. ;)

Because some peoples idea of 'excellent' condition or 'like new' is different than others... :rolleyes:
 
If you are selling on the net get a digital camera... even a cheap one is fine but it really makes life easier for you as the seller and it will move the goods faster.

There are a lot of younger people on this forum who don't know much about guns...:D

That being said...... I buy and sell a lot of stuff on ebay. If it is used I don't even consider buying it, if I can't see a good picture of it. Good pictures are important as far as I am concerned.

Descriptions vary from person to person... I have seen firerams described as close to mint (whatever that is supposed to be) and when you actually looked closely at that firearm, it had been reblued.

The internet and digital photos are replacing the paper ads.... it is just a matter of time...
 
pics are nice but if i have delt with the seller or the seller has a very good rep i can live with no pics. i bought a rem 7 off rembo based on his discription and was happy.
 
I just bought one from a dealer sight unseen but the price was right.

Told it's in excellent shape but even if it was a parts gun I'd still be ahead of the game.:rolleyes:

Bad example. No one wants to see pics of that damned old carved up Model 99.:D
 
I post pics because it sells faster that way. Why, because people trust their own eyes and not written words when dealing with someone for the first time.

I bought dies that were "like new" before on here. They were not "like new". They werent even "like used". They were "like garbage"!!:mad:

A pic would of sorted that out in a hurry. Just think about a $900 purchase instead of a $30 purchase. Pics please!:D
 
I'd like to see what it is I'm buying. I'd gladly send a picture of my money, if a seller asked. :)
