What is it with the springfield armory XD?

The Springfield XD9 was my first centerfire handgun. I bought it because of the look!... plus the fact that you get a holster and Mag holder with the gun because i wanted to shoot IPSC and IDPA with it. Had some problems with it out of the box. The sights needed to be adjusted so i had a gun smith do it for me for $50. The comment about no parts is not entirely correct. You can find various parts at many different places online. I bought a match barrel from Questar which improved the accuracy as well and putting on better sights. I have shot about 3000 rounds and love how it performs. I do reload and found that 147 gr lead bullets perform well in the match barrel. It is easy to learn to draw from a holster and shoot because you dont have to worry about putting on and taking off the safety. Just draw and fire. This is now a bane for me because i am now shooting a gun with a safety for IPSC and it does slow me down. I plan on continuing to use my XD9 for IPDA. I have talked to a number of glock owners and they like how the XD feels... I have not shot the glock or even picked one up so i dont know how it compares...

I'm in no mean being a tard, unless you incist, and neither trying to make fun of people who buy that gun, I'm just asking what's so special about it. If I shocked you I'm truly sorry, it wasn't my intention.

No hard feelings- a lot of people responded to your post trying to be helpful and share their knowledge and experiences. It just seemed that you were wasting everyone's time. If this is not the case then I retract my comment and offer my apologies.

FWIW, Chuck Taylor has written several times about the XD being one the the best pistols now produced. That's saying a bunch considering chuck has a Glock 17 with over 250,000 rounds through it and he loves 1911's. Think of it like a Glock with a grip safety, but comes apart as easy as a SIG. I've read that the slides have a tendency to rust if you don't take care of them properly, but then again the Glock's tenifer finish is hard to beat. I'd like to try one some day, but somehow I don't think I'd get rid of my G19 anytime soon;)

I have an xd40. It's pretty accurate and the price is ok for what you get.
Someone here said it was snappy, well I dont find it snappy at all.
Anyway, there is so much selection out there that arguing over tastes in handguns is plain stupid.
Youlike it? great. You dont? great as well.

yeah well im being put down cause i dont like its looks so i asked about its functionality, everyone stopped at the look part
