What is the best mid-priced "Go To" Rifle?

Please define "better made".

Modern design and manufacturing techniques, better workmanship and materials. In particular, the quality of steel using in Tikka barrels.
As much I love Remington 700s, fit and finish is not the best and barrels are not perfectly aligned/trued with the action (believe or not, it does not affect accuracy much).

I still buy and shoot Remington 700 almost exclusively because of accessories and of the design's inherent safety and accuracy.
Also I don't own a Toyota Camry (I own 2 Subarus) even if it's a "better made" car since functionality is more important than quality.

I have owned and hunted with many factory rifles. In my opinion, I would purchase the following rifles today:

-Weatherby Vanguard S2 stainless/synthetic

-Winchester Model 70 Featherweight

-Mark V Sporter

-Sako 85 Bavarian

That goes from least expensive to most expensive. The S2 Vanguard is a fine rifle and, in truth, is all you need.

The Winchester Model 70 is WONDERFUL. I cannot speak highly enough about some of the design decisions they made with this rifle. If you can swing $799, DO IT.

If money is no object, the Sako 85 Bavarian will leave you smiling for life.

Well, if anyone is reading this thread anymore, I finally purchased a rifle. I shouldered all the rifles on the list and managed to quickly remove many of them by "they just didn't feel right" elimination. Personally I didn't like the action of the Remington 700 or the Weatherby. The Browning and Winchester felt pretty good but were a fairly high price for what I wanted to spend. I really liked the Tikka and the Savage. Later, I also added to the list the new Ruger American rifle even though it is basically a budget rifle but it did seem like a decent rifle for the price.
I ended up buying the Savage Model 116 International Trophy Hunter with a stainless steel barrel in a 30-06 caliber. It came as a package deal with a Weaver scope and I got it on sale at Wholesale Sports for $530. So far I am happy with my purchase and I will see how it performs when I sight it in and go out hunting this weekend.
Thanks to everyone for your input.
