For the guys who ARE willing to save money, the Number 4 is still the best bet.
You can get Bubba'd rifles for $100 and really nice ones with full wood for 350 and up.
Ten bucks for bedding.
Two bucks for a stone to do the trigger.
One buck for a couple of chargers (all you'll likely need). You can stone THEM so they feed better, too!
You can handload your ammo, too, and save money that way. Try lowering your MV to about 2250. Seat the bullet to the overall length of a Mark VII Ball round.
Your rifle kicks less.
It's MUCH easier on brass.
It's cheaper to handload.
And it's MORE ACCURATE.
And you can load that nice Hornady 150 for the close-in matches, keep the Sierra FLATBASE 180 for the long stuff.
If you NEED a scope, use the S&K mount: no holes to drill and it's rock-solid. $120.
Tasco 6 - up scope: $125.
You've spent less than the price for a Communist Chinese copy of an American rifle.
So go ahead, give it a try.
You just might tick the AI boys off!
