What Is The Holy Grail Of Handguns?

My personal holy grail of handguns would be;
-the right to legally own ANY handgun.
-the right to carry ANY handgun anywhere.
-the right to defend life with a handgun.
As for the hardware, any 1911 or gun based off that platform.

I would like a NIB LW Colt Commander in 9mm that WASN'T finicky with ammo!

Most shooters 'search' ends with a 45 ACP M1911, what ever flavor suits them best. It really is, as you can see, an individual thing though.

In my opinion MY Holy Grail of handguns is;
- The unrestricted use by the law abiding public.
And in the eyes of the community, in MY opinion, the Holy Grail of handguns is;
- Ban them!

I've always wanted to get my hands on a Borchart pistol. The chances of me even seeing one in person is pretty slim but a fellow can dream, can't he?

A SIG P210 is also on my "want to at least see one" list.

Depends which group you're talking about. I'll bet historical collectors would **** themselves over the chance to own the pistol that shot the Archduke Ferdinand, for example. :D

Topic was Holy Grail of Handguns...

US Army 1906 Luger Pistol chambered in .45ACP S/N: #1

http://www.lugerforum.com/45Luger.html

S/N#1 is like the Grail, clouded in myth and legend -
and no where to be found.

P210s are nice, but any mortal can own one if they
choose a small monetary sacrafice, hardly "Grail"
material.

There is only the S/N#2 surviving .45ACP Luger and
the rumors about S/N#1.

In my opinion, any handgun that had some sort of historical signifigance or an attachment to someone important would apply. For example: Adolf Hilter's Luger or Teddy Roosevelt's six shooter or Brownings own personal 1911, or the gun that shot L.E. Oswald. Owning one of those gives you some bragging rights in the "Holy Grail" department. If you look at the big picture, today's production pistols and revolvers don't mean anything compared with the examples mentioned above. They'll float through history as just another mass produced sidearm. Being the "Holy Grail" means that someone is willing to pay an outrageous sum of money because it's desirable.

BTW, I can't believe some of you guys mentioned Glock??? Man, give your heads a shake for crying out loud. LOL.
