what is the "mil-spec CLP" I bought...curious

G96. Smells like eggnog, works like a hot damn, plus it's replaced WD40 for everything I used to use WD40 on.

I won't even use WD40 on rusty bolts on cars. Its garbage. Throwing water on a rusty bolt would be the same effect as using WD40. Seafoam Deep Creep gets my vote.

Water Displacement #40.

It would kinda do the opposite of getting the bolt wet.

But I get what you're sayin.

Ain't even allowed on Navy Ships. Honey goo, or 3 in 1, is much better. I just use diesel syn engine oil. If can withstand the abuse a diesel engine can produce, then good enough for my guns.

I wish....lol. No, nothing like Breakfree CLP....smells a bit like the oil that comes on Chinese guns, or that came with the CQ311's and SKS back in the day, but thinner.
I'm probably sterile now just from smelling it.
I'd #### my pants if CanAm has an MSDS sheet for this stuff lol

Without proper labelling and available MSDS info, this stuff cannot even be sold in this fine country.............

Sounds like you have some original surplus clp.Its pretty strong smelling and takes several washes with good soap to get off.I swear coyotes could smell this stuff. The old military surplus stuff in the little squeeze bottles that come in the butt stock cleaning kit usually has the Teflon additive in it that settles out to the bottom and cleaning instructions state it needs to be shook up for use.Thanks--Dieseldog!

Didn't the military stop using CLP because it was found to be carcinogenic? (the stuff that smelled funny, hard to wash off your hands)

Replacing it with Brake Free? (clear oil, not milky like the CLP)

when I qualified on 9mm in august, pretty sure we used CLP for cleaning...if not, they still call it CLP...it wasn't clear, more like piss colour.

+1 for Honey Goo. great stuff. that and moveit are my prefered lubricants.

In the past I think it was just labelled "CLP", came in a clear or opaque bottle, milky and had to be shaken.

The newer "non-carcinogenic" stuff is labelled "Break free CLP", comes in a black bottle(at least in the small quantities anyways).

The two smell totally different. The old stuff would smell offensive kind of like burnt diff fluid and was hard to wash off your hands, the newer stuff is a lot more user friendly....at least to the olfactory senses. If it smells bad to a human, then I would say it would raise the spidey sense on a coyote for sure.

Cool! Looks like reasonably decent stuff....I was worried it was Chinese mystery oil.
As promised....
