What is the oldest firearm owned by someone on this board?

Not particularly, although I once owned a French Charleville pistol from around that time period. Currently have trade gun, a bess and an unusual dog lock from around late 1700s to very early 1800s and a turkish flint pistol from about the same time period.
Only gun that might beat Steppen's is an Indian matchlock which I am sure is before the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 but how much is anyone's guess. The barrel is quite ornate and fluted which leaves me to think that it was made in the 1700s perhaps earlier. The stock on the gun is in extremely poor condition and I have not had time yet to restock the gun and shoot it.

oldest piece

haven't fired it but a 1770 Queen Anne style flintlock pocket pistol by Archer. 2" screw barrel in .46 cal . just a really cute item that works perfectly. sold a matchlock from about 1640 to cgn member in new brunswick a while back. regards
 
I know it does not compare in age, but I have a 1940 made S&W Heavy Duty in 38 special. It still locks up & shoots wonderfully as long as the daylight is not reflecting off the half moon front sight.
This thing is built like a tank for this calibre, and even though it's an N-frame, it seems more like a beautiful piece of artwork. Maybe it's the handfitting or design, or just that it was made in a time where form and function had meaning.
It was first used by the BCPP, and for a shorter time, with the RCMP as well.
Quality item beautifully made, for public safety, with Canadian provenance as a bonus.

It's certainly not the oldest, but I bet it's the oldest that could be used day in and day out, on this thread.

Oldest one I have atm is a Spanish mauser, 1893 manufacture, rearsenaled in 1916, and rebarelled sometime in the 60s. After that, a Remington model 12 made in 1914.
 
Two Civil War muskets, dated 1862 and 1863, and L.G & Y contract musket (1862) and a Springfield Armory (1863).
Also have the 1865 first model Allin's conversion of the Civil War musket to 58 Rimfire.
 
martini henry 450/577 one is rifle lenth dated 1879 other is cut down but restored to a carbine configuration 1876 both mk2s ........

beforre that i own an original brown bess.......was a date 1812 over the breech .....not sure if that was original dating but it was fun .

Can't believe you let the 1640 go.

Do you happen to have photos of the 1770 queen anne?
