I am looking to add another .308 hunting rifle to my meager collection.

I currently have a 750 Woodmaster Carbine.....it is a great bush gun, and all around deer getter for the area that I hunt in WMU 47 in Ontario, but I feel the need....urge.....want....itch that needs to be scratched.... to have something else.

What are some great options, and opinions......single, bolt, semi.....doesn't matter, and for the sake of this discussion, lets keep it under $3000 for the rifle.

Please discuss!

A nice Savage 99 or Browning BLR would do the trick. Or if you want to spend more money then maybe a Sako Finn Wolf. For a handy bolt action the first generation Remington Model Seven (18.5" barrel, wood sights) would be a nice choice. For a more classic pick, how about a pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight?

Really a win 100 ? That would be my last pick u wanted to spend $3000!not $300. How about a Kimber Ascent or a cooper or the pre 64 featherweight in 308 would be perfect .

You can't go wrong with a Browning BLR. Great fast gun for the bush or stand. For the longer pokes I would go a Remington 700 CDL or Tikka T3. I love my BLR and it always puts the deer to the ground.

I hunt in 47 as well, lots of thick and open forest so I wear out my boots fast. I also went to check some 308's at the local shop. I was very impressed by the Rem model 7 compact. Very light, very short and compact, almost like carrying a stick. Methinks I may have to also add a 308 (or a 7-08) to the hunting gear. Best luck with your choice.

I would take a serious look at the new FN win 70. I think they have the pedigree to become the future pre-64 Winchester. I'm not too familiar with the model 100 but I own a model 88 and although it is a decent gun, it's not spectacular, nor is it a tack driver.

I don't think there is a correct answer.

Its all preference.

I've got a Ruger Scout rifle and love it. You've got an all weather gun, with iron sights a scout scope mount and the ability to put a standard scope on it.

Not to mention detachable magazine's that are available in steel or poly, and in 3, 5 and 10 round capacity.

However the 18' barrel might be tad short for longer shooting.

What a mouthful.

One of these would be my choice for you...................

or one of these....................

or one of these.........

these are pretty nice at 5 lbs 15 oz all up ready to hunt.

Your CZ rifle collection is making me drool. I'm a huge CZ fan and am curious, what model is the stainless one?
