Here are the choices:
17HMR, 204 Ruger, 223REM, 22-250REM, 220SWIFT, 243WIN, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5mm Creedmoor, and the 308WIN.
these are the deciding factors
Cost per round (bought or hand load), MOA (at 100, 200, 300 yards), availability of accessories, projectiles, barrel twists (factory or after market), Improved or not improved
I thought you had it narrowed down in the open sights 223 vs 22-250 vaporizer thread.
Somehow 22LR snuck into some of these responses, but I took "ultimate varmint round" to mean a versatile caliber to cover-off lots of varmint applications. 22LR is pretty limited, in spite of the fact that it's the caliber I shoot most.Gophers, barn pigeons, squirrels, maybe raccoons that are close=about as far as I'd push 22LR. Gophers positively love 22LR.

You do know that the word "professional" refers to someone that gets paid for their services, right?i do have it narrowed...just asking opinions of professionals excluding a select few
As noted previously......22-250AI. I bought mine because of the build, then realized what I really acquired. 1:9 twist...60 BT at about 3500 FPS. Incredibly flat trajectory......you did ask for “ultimate” suggestions, plus you can fire form brass with factory loads.

I didn't realize that we had paid varmint vaporizers here on CGN.
I vote for the Ackley .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer

22 LR for gophers, 22-250 for coyotes.
Another vote for the 257 Wby here, even though it didn't make the list.
at one time Yes. However 100plus yards...200 yards 22LR has a long reach somtimes unattainable
Been there, done that. It's more fun going back to using the 22LR within its range, stalking or waiting for them to come back out.
