picked this up a while ago, shot it a bit but 410 isn"t really my thing so i'm looking for a idea of fair market value. i see them going for a $1000 plus in the US, but i know that'll never happen here. aside from that unfortunate chip in the toe of the stock, the gun is otherwise immaculate, only bluing wear is on the mag tube from being pumped, exc bore choked modified, serial number puts it in the last 1000 made.

They go for a $1000 plus in the U.S. and that does happen here too. It looks like real nice condition. Too bad about the chip, it looks fairly recent but could be repaired so as to be barely noticeable. The small step between the buttplate and the butt at the heel of the stock makes me wonder if the buttplate was broken when the stock was chipped. If so I would ask $800OBO and see what happens. My 2 cents.

I'm not far off from Mike in the condition it appears to be in and the biggy no cutts or poly fitted it would take $850 to get it out of my hands if it was mine. Butt plate may not be original or I would check the LOP to make sure a small slice has not been taken off the stock. Nice gun

There is quite a bit of interest in M42 in Canada, too, and not very many of them around. You would not be too far wrong to ask "$1000 OBO" and see what offers are made. This shotgun will draw more serious collectors and they won't be so worried about $100 more or less if they want the gun. I expect you would get offers in the $800-900 range fairly easily and you should be prepared to counter-offer $900 on offers lower than that. If you have time you should be able to get that.

wow. ok thanks i'll do just that. i'm gonna leave it unrepaired as any serious collector would rather have that and look after it themselves then one thats been previously repaired, no matter how well done. if any of you are interested i guess keep an eye on the EE in the next day or two.

nope. i paid $80. heres what happened.

i work at a large sporting goods retailer. we have customers coming in to the store looking to asell/trade used guns, however we no longer deal in them. on occasion an employee will buy them. i was working in the back when when a co worker said " there's a guy out here wants to sell an old 410, would you give him $70 for it" i said "sure why not" i had no idea what model or condition it was, i assumed it would be a cooey 840 or something similar, which around here is worth all of seventy bucks. anyways buddy brings it in the back cased sets it in the corner and i don't look at it for another 15 minutes as i am busy mounting a scope.when i realized what it was i asked if they where still here but had left at that point. i never even saw the person that brought it in. repaid my coworker and gave him an extra $10.

i didn't set out to screw anyone over i'm not that kind of person. had i been dealing direct with them it probably would have happened quite differently. i did feel a little guilty, but as i look back at it i have nothing to be ashamed of. the above poster obviously knows me (pissed off co worker perhaps, wanted it for himself?) and seems to have an axe to grind, but prefers to do it behind an internet alias. whatever, i could care less what they think.

You cant fault anyone for paying the price the seller wanted. As a seller you have to ask opinions and do some digging on your own much like the original poster is doing now.

Somone set the price and you paid it, nothing to be ashamed of. I would have grabbed it in a heartbeat myself in the same situation. If someone wants to give a gun away that is THEIR fault. If you set out to sell a gun that you have no idea of the value of, do some research, otherwise you deserve to lose. My 2 cents.
