Micrometer sight adjustment. Have one on my k31, it’s for finer elevation adjustment. Mine works from about 100m-300m but it doesn’t interfere with the standard sight so you can adjust farther.
Here were the approved fine sight adjusters from the 1969 Swiss rule book.

That text is REALLY impressive. It speaks volumes about the seriousness that the Swiss placed in skill at arms! Its a pity that I have never seen the equivalent in the Canadian military. Its not that we dont have highly skilled Canadian military marksmen ... but the priority is so low in the training cycle for the average soldier that it is seriously deficient.

Looks like it might be a Sahli version for the G11 rifle, if knob is thick enough:

As you can see: it became somewhat more tolerant to what can be used, but it's still very restricted. So no Bundesübung with a HK P8 for example.
