What is with the crazy prices on lee enfields?

I dunno, there still are some decent (as well as outrageous) prices at the gunshows. A buddy of mine picked up a beautiful Eddystone Model 1917, full wood with the red stripe for a paltry $175 last year at the Chilliwack gun show. The year prior to that, I scored a beautiful 1942 Lithgow #1 Mk3* wire wrap for $265. Not everyone is out to gouge, some guys want to pass on the history to other like minded people....

Back in 2006 my local gun shop in Brisbsne had a rack full of enfields, mostly lithgows. Two were mine on consignment and had been for sale for months. Within weeks of the movie Kokoda coming out, all had sold. Just recently I sold a very large portion of my enfield collection off and a couple of the buyers said to me they were looking for WW1 enfields to have for the approaching anniversaries of WW1. I suspect when the dates and reflections have passed, there'll be an interest like never before possibly.

This is called BS and trolling. You need to be banned.

I don't understand people like you.

This forum is fun, it's educational, it's an amazing grassroots resource...it's a place I come to commiserate with people who enjoy milsurp shooting, collecting and history like I do. Many members here know more than I will probably ever know. When I ask a question....I thank those who take the time to help out and treat them with respect.

You seem to ask generally absurd questions and then react aggressively when your questions are met with logic and common sense...and perhaps just a little exasperation that you aren't treading lightly given your recent ban.

anyway, good luck...you seem to be hurtling with failed brakes towards another involuntary break from CGN...but maybe that's your game all along

I've never been banned......because I treat people with respect, well most people, and don't jerk everyone around. Your history condemns you.

I saw you were back and hoped you'd improved but it doesn't look like you have.

Exactly true about the collectors and those interested in history. Don't let the top dollar gougers and "Internets" ruin your day. If the price is too high just walk away. I picked up a real nice No4Mk1(T) complete with No.32 scope/mount, wooden box and cased binoculars for $660.00 in a face to face transaction with a collector.

That's wonderful but no were near the norm. Did the collector know that he sold it for 1980 prices?

How much would a lithgow no4 mk1 go for with good wood, matching numbers, shiny bore and bayonet included be worth?? It's basically all original and hasn't been shot since it was surplused.

Now that would be very rare!

Sorry mate, lithgow never actually made the No4 variant. Must be another maker.

Oops. Brain fart. This is her,

From what info I have gathered, this rifle was likely used in a training unit, and has not seen real combat.

I paid ~ $400 for my number matching, beauty bore '40 Lithgow No.1 Mk3* with non matching bayo, sling and "rack-grade" stock about a year ago. Hope that helps.

That sounds like good buying. A matching 1940 lithgow still as MkIII in my parts would be over 800 bucks.
Is yours maple or coachwood?

I should clarify....a matching '40 No.1 MkIII*.....FTR date '54...I think that makes the price make more sense

wood ? I really don't know....other than walnut and beech....wood types kind of escape me

here she is...if you can tell from this lemme know...I have better pics somewhere, but not uploaded yet and I really don't feel like looking for them....ugh, digital cameras and the thousands of pictures that need sorting ! haha

Still looks good unless the front is cut off. What do you need to know. If the rest is as good as what we can see, in Queensland if would be over 800, maybe 1000 or more. Keeping in mind 1942 is the most common action date. Still, good ones with any sction date are all hard to find now. What's the serial number range?

Mate that's a nice picture of you and your little girl.

Almost most definitely it's coachwood if it was FTR'd in Australia. Photos too small on my phone but it looks like coachwood.

Nice one!

thanks bro...

I certainly hope it was FTR'd at Lithgow MA...if it's coachwood all the better, that's cool as hell in my books...everything else in my safe is walnut, beech, that laminate on the K98's or arctic birch on the russian guns...so I've been told. Can't remember what the 91/30's are...birch ? I dunno.

I haven't tried ranged paper yet with this one...but she "feels" accurate....shot unsupported, taking a knee, I was able to nail soda cans at around 50 yards no problem....uphill if I remember

Full disclosure...I haven't taken her down yet to see what the bedding situation, or even if the plunger, middle band/spring or front trigger guard bushing are there....they could all be missing for all I know haha. I've been sold guns in that sorry state before I knew better...and this could be one of them...but I don't think so, not this one.

I like it a lot.
