The OCD within me refuses to get a rifle with a major feature that is absent from the original. In other words, the original military issue VZ58 had a chrome lined barrel, the NR CZ 858 does not.
On the other hand the NR VZ58 with chrome lined barrel is a good rifle.
The SKS can only really be shot with iron sights, the rear sight is crap, I had to move the front post all the way to the right, and in fact I changed the rear sight to a Williams fire sight for the rifle to meet my standards, and the trigger is crap compared with the VZ. The SKS's only superior "feature" is its price - it does not compare with the VZ where it matters: functionality, reliability, trigger, safety switch, ergonomics, accuracy, weight, modularity, magazines, optic mounting, muzzle brake mounting, bayonet mounting.
