What is worthy of replacing the 858

Wolverines upcoming VZ 958 might be a worthy replacement for the 858, as that is the 958's intended purpose. No details released yet.

the VZ958 might be a worthy replacement, we will have to wait and see!

Until then, can all gunowners ban together please so we can ditch the firearms act! Then its AK47 BABY! YEAH! :)

All my norincos have been reliable for the most part. I use a chinese made generator and my atc 70 3wheeler has a 125 honda clone in it and its bulletproof. The type 81 will have a chrome lined barrel and 1.5mm thick reciever built to last

SKS will outshoot and outlast your vz585 and cz858 period

Not bloody likely.
CZ's are/were a bargain for the quality and cool factor. Cheap ammo, comes with 4 DETACHABLE mags, reliable.
Leave it stock other than the furniture!

The OCD within me refuses to get a rifle with a major feature that is absent from the original. In other words, the original military issue VZ58 had a chrome lined barrel, the NR CZ 858 does not.

On the other hand the NR VZ58 with chrome lined barrel is a good rifle.

The SKS can only really be shot with iron sights, the rear sight is crap, I had to move the front post all the way to the right, and in fact I changed the rear sight to a Williams fire sight for the rifle to meet my standards, and the trigger is crap compared with the VZ. The SKS's only superior "feature" is its price - it does not compare with the VZ where it matters: functionality, reliability, trigger, safety switch, ergonomics, accuracy, weight, modularity, magazines, optic mounting, muzzle brake mounting, bayonet mounting.

Is it select fire ? cause most of them had that as a major feature lol

they ever get the disconector issues sorted out on the vz/858?? That was the only gripe with mine, good accuracy and decent trigger... but every one in 50 or 100 it wouldn't fire.

myself, i'd go with a norc m1a shorty
- takes abit of gunwork/tinkering but you end up with a reliable accurate rifle
-i put a new criterion barrel and fulton bolt on mine

thats what i did, and i'm diggin the results

sks is good option aswell, but your fiddling with dorky mags

Whats wrong with chinese?

My T97 doesn't feed properly. About 1 out of 15 jam and push the bullet into the casing, spilling powder into the chamber and receiver.
For $1000 I was expecting a better product.
Every other Norinco I've shot has worked at the 99.9% level.
How did they manage to go wrong with the T97?

I thought it'd be interesting to hear some opinions on a worthy replacement for my mint CZ 858. Not that I'm really looking to get rid of it, as it is my current favorite. Ive been giving it just a little thought, though. I'd like to hear your thoughts on some worthy replacements for this great little rifle.

Must be semi- automatic, equally reliable, more $$ is fine..

PS: Doesn't need to be another Red rifle. Maybe I should've put this in the general section.

Ruger mini 14 in a promag stock? It's dead ###y! If I had money to burn, I'd buy one just because...
