For a range/competition pistol, mine would be the CZ 75 SP01 Shadow--and I've tried a bunch. Since it's all steel, it balances great and has very little recoil, and the grips fit my hand almost perfectly. The fibre-optic sights are great--they're good for close in shooting, but still precise enough for the 50m stages. The trigger pull is the best out-of-the-box trigger on any semi-auto I've tried. Lastly, it's very intrinsically accurate, as well (and the price is pretty good, too!). Here's mine:

CZ 75B, very very reliable, inexpensive, can take very light and hot load without hicups. Comfortable grip, solid and well build. Too much good but too little to paid.
