What is your favorite Smith & Wesson revolver?

My 4" 29-2, because of;
- Balance:D
- More accurate than any other 29 I've had, and there's been a few.;)
- S&W factory ivory magna grips. Probably worth more than the gun.:D

Just got my first S&W last month, picked up a nice 66. I like it but with my Savage 99 addiction I can't see it lasting to long.

I am an S&W addict, The one I shot the most was my 625-2 Mdl of 1988 in .45ACP with 5 inches barrel. Accurate, hard hitter and fun to shoot in IPSC and bowling pin.

Well as soon as the ATT comes in I'll have used 686 with 5" barrel with the 4 position factory front sight. Nice used revolver albeit not a 66 but it should be nice with 357 loads. I use to shoot a friends out west occasionally & remember it being a well balanced & accurate revolver.

My first was an 8 3/8 686. Beautiful, accurate, soft shooting. Then I bought a 29-3 8 3/8 .This has the smoothest action I've ever shot. I think it's even better than my 8" python. My 17-6 6" is just a fantastically smooth and accurate 22. Now I've got to find a model 57 41 mag.

My preference is for the older classic models without the eternal locks and MIM parts. Here is part of my S&W revolver collection all with 6" or 6.5" barrels.

I like J frames with 3" barrels. I like K frames with 4" barrels, and I particularly like the lines of the 4" M-10 M&P, with the tapered barrel. The L frame guns never caught my interest, and I still don't care for the look of the full length under-lug. The N frame with a 5" barrel is my favorite length, but those seem few and far between. In fact the only 5" Smith I've ever owned was a K frame Victory model. My favorite S&W revolvers of all time though were a 4" M-19 and an early production 61/2" nickel plated M-29. The K frame with factory target grips seems to fit my hand better than any of the other S&W grips. The nickeled M-29 was the slickest revolver I've ever had the pleasure of owning. On my "will own someday" list are a 31/2" and a 5" M-27.
