I would have to say a 686 with 3" barrel and rubber finger grips (yep it is a CS-1). It is heavy enough that 357 Mag loads are comfortable and fun to shoot.

Lessee... I've shot a .22 Model 34 with 4 inch barrel, two different 4" Model 19's with different grips, a model 19 6", a Model 29 8", a .460Mag and a 500Mag.

I'd have to say that I can't pick just one because it wouldn't be fair to the rest. I really liked them all for different reasons. Not a big fan of Pachmeyer grips though. The Hogues are much nicer for my hand.

I agree. I looked at and fondled my S&W revolvers when I first read this thread and couldn't decide so I didn't post. FWIW, I prefer Pachmayr over Hogue grips/stocks. :stirthepot2:

I'll have to say the Model 10 I carry at work. Old, ugly, and heavier than hell after 10 hours riding on my hip, but it RUNS. My second favorite is the Model 10 I have at home... 4.3" pencil barrel. Now I just need a 4.25" HEAVY for it and I'm golden :D

Man this is one hard question for me i love all my Smiths all from a .22 right up to my 455 HE 2nd Model. My oldest one will 102 years next month my newest would be 18 years old .The two i shoot the most are my 14-2 a 1965 model and my 29-2 with a 8 3/8" er 1980 model thats a real tack driver at 75 yards.I guess these would be my favorite ones since they get the most range time.

I have a few Smiths that could be my first pick: 1990 made 629 5" DX Classic, beautiful sights, crisp trigger, rounded grip, nice wood panels.
Although I have a Brazilian M1937 45 ACP, with a case of uglies, man it can shoot well on a good day. A 'proper' J-frame will never be mine, but the big'ole N-frames, sure try hard to please this amateur shooter!
