Not that I really mind the tupperware that came on a New Haven Classic at all, but if you were going to replace it some day, what would you go with? Sporter, not a FTW

You can wait for the rokstock to be released. They’re supposed to make for the model 70.

It’s ugly as hell but the functionality is there

Really depends what you want to do with it? More precision style? Classic lines? Ultralight? I have a McMillan sporter as well as a winlite stock, both are excellent quality. Wildcat stocks are also very nice and extremely light.

Thanks!

While I definitely have my uses in mind, I'd like to hear everyone elses too. More interesting.

They are still available through D’Arcy. Not sure on the details anymore though.

Good to know, thanks.

For now its a Stainless Classic in 270 Win with the factory black plastic, but never know...might want something better.

The push feed long actions were available in a McMillan stock from factory “winlite” Sometimes you can get em cheap. Blind mag with schnable or normal bottom metal and without the schnable forend.

A few years ago I bought a NIB xtr model 70 stock from Keith in bewdley Ontario. I’d imagine he still has an assortment of factory stocks.

If you’re lucky might have some 8gauge kiln guns that he’s working on. Same with model 70 parts if your looking to build a little repair stash

I went with a Boyd's Platinum stock for my Stainless Classic .338. Very happy with it. Hated the black plastic stock it came with, though it did the job on several moose hunts.

I've owned a few of these Winlites over the years. Still hunt with one in 300 WM, and have another stock to use when I decide what cartridge I want it in. Most of the ones I have come across were in 270, but they did make them in a few cartridges. It's a good stock, comfortable and easy to carry. My other Model 70 builds are going into Richards Marksman stocks. - dan

^ive seen them in stores and on gp for less than a grand as no one really likes or appreciates the push feed 70’s. Sometimes they list it as just a synthetic stock push model 70, unaware of what it is.

If you have a long action pretty quick and cheap swap once you sell it. Or keep it as is

I remember dragging my feet on a push feed model 70 marksman in a factory McMillan A2 that gobles had for sale for month, should have bought it. Think it was around 1400$. The stainless wilson heavy Varmit model 70 are another sleeper

After McMillan sold to bob beck in 2021ish a lot of stuff got discontinued forever

Oh, I'd never heard of Keith. Interesting. Having some parts on hand wouldn't be bad at all.

I've seen the Winlites for sale too, but never at a time I was buying....know what you mean about McM cutting so many stocks too. Sad.

Keith runs a small gun sale/repair/Winchester warranty (might be past tense on the warranty) shop. It’s a tiny store with a small used section but worth a stop in

He usually is closed for the winter. It’s not a bad drive north of the 401 if your along that route

The Brown Precision is my favorite stock over all. I have one long action 700 Brown that has been on 5 different rifles. It fits me very well. That would be my 1st choice. The other I have is a 700 SA. It's a keeper as well.

I’ve changed a few. I have an STW built byTed Gaillard, in a Boyd’s Prairie hunter which is a slim light sort of thing that fits me well and suits the factory contour barrel.

Another is a MCR sort of copy of a M70 that fits the same footprint. The Benchmark barrel on that one is a Remington magnum contour and I put an Accuracy Innovations walnut stock with a aluminum insert from wrist to forend. Its not the lightest thing around, but hell for stable. Rifle is in 300 Win and eventually became one of my favorites. Just another of my projects in trying to make something that works like a Winchester and shoots like a Remington. You would think that would be easy, but it isn’t..
