What is your go to optic for your black rifle?

Specter DR 1x/4x :)

Heavy, but dayyyum looks nice in FDE (chocolate) on my FDE x95

Edit: I think I'll get the IDF black grip pads instead... will add contrast!

Here's my latest mix:

  • Vortex Strike Eagle on my AR
  • Meprolight M5 on my CTAR
  • ACOG TA33 on my FS2000
  • Aimpoint Micro H1 on my PS90
  • iron sights on my SG542

Hmm some good optics.

I was looking at in this order so far
Vortex Optics Spitfire Prism Sight 32mm 3x EBR-556 Reticle
Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6
Mepro 21
Vortext Strike Eagle 1-8
Bushnell AR Optics Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm 1/10 Mil Adjustments First Focal Illuminated BTR-1 Reticle Matte

ACR - Aimpoint T2
X95 - Trijicon MRO
NEA 102- Trijicon Accupower 1-8

Will swap them around on those 3 guns depending on what I plan do to that day. :)

Tavor - ACSS Holosun + 3x magnifier (vortex)
16” custom recce - Primary Arms 1-8x Platinum FFP ACSS scope
DD 11.5” - Holosun T2 clone with EOTech reticle

ZF 4x24 either Hensoldt or Karl Kaps on all my Swiss Arms, SG542 and SG540s.
A reticle much like the picket post of a C79 Elcan, good glass and very comfy eye relief.
Surprisingly light weight which is pretty important on a Swiss Arms.

I am just too old and too bad of eye to play with Elcans and ACOGs anymore.

I am a fan of vortex. I run a sparc 2 and a sparc ar on my 7" and my 14.5" 7.62x39, a 3x spitfire on my 14.5 5.56 and a 1x8 strike eagal on my 102. They all get abused and hold up well. There are better sights out there but ask your self what is the application? I'm not a soldier those boys need it to work. Me I can wait for the great warranty to cover any damage. Just my 2 cents.

I use a Trijicon TA31F. Mainly because I've had it for over a decade and it still works great. Only drawback is the tritium decay in the night optic function, but you can't fight time.

Holoson 510c on my Cz 858
Eotech 512 a65 with Eotech G33 magnifier

I am very surprised with the quality of holoson. Crisp and very bright dot

After having tried quite a few have settled on the Elcan Specter DR series of variable magnification optics as my go-to. I have one 1-4x and one 1.5-6x and they both are solid performers. Excellent optics and rugged but pricey.

After using them extensively, I have streamlined my collection and liquidated almost all the other optics I have save for two Elcan M145s (ex-army surplus - good for general use), two Trijicon MROs (bullpups and SBR/ pistol carbines) and two higher magnification scopes for LR shooting. I shoot irons A LOT so don't subscribe to the "an optic for every gun" philosophy. My optics get rotated around as required.
