What is your go-to ...

Back when we could use lead shot I used a Winchester 1200 Pump in 2 3/4 for everything.

I fell off goose & duck hunting for a few years, I stuck mostly to upland birds on account of my 1200 not being able to hit that well shooting steel. I used it one year for waterfoul (2 outings), I spent alot of time chasing wounded birds..... I didn't like that so I stopped.

Last year I bought a Bakail MP-153, 3 1/2" autoloader, I used it in the fall for everything, not a hiccup..... I guess you could say it's "my go to Goose gun".

If I could justify the expense I could see myself with a Benelli, it was what I was waiting for, I was saving up $$ (in an auto loader) untill I read all the stuff I did about the bakail, I figgured I could afford $400 to 'test' the bakail...... So far no regrets!

Cheers!

M870 over many yrs. I'm not panning autoloaders, but I've seen quite a few stoppages in a number of them around me while the 870 kept on ticking:). As far as rapidity is concerned, I find that I can get 3 shots on a flight of geese if I need to. That's all you are going to get anyway. I've used a Mossberg 590 with 20" cylinder bore bbl over decoys on field shoots as well. The shot pattern was OK:eek: and the heat shield and bayonet were real intimidating to the birds too;).

Looks like a decent gone for the money. I've heard you have to adjust the gas system for light loads, is easy to do that?

I didn't have to adjust a darn thing, I shot a box of 3 1/2 to 'break it in' and then shot a case of trap loads to 'get a feel' for it. The gas system if very easy to adjust, it comes with a tool that is for the gas system & for the choke tubes (it comes with 4). You take the forearm nut off the end of the mag tube and the gas adjustement is right there, it even has markings so you know which way to turn it to get the desired result.

It didn't have a plug in the mag so I made one..... I dropped a Primary Printer pencil (Kindergartem pencil) in the mag and it makes me legal for hunting. It holds 2, 3 1/2" shells and 2, 2 3/4" shells so I just 'Forrest Gumped' the perfect Mag plug.

Cheers!

For geese it's my Armsport 10 gauge O/U 32" choked Mod and Mod. I haven't quite forgiven it for having 2 triggers and extractors, but it does club honkers out of the sky.
For everything else its my 687 Silver Pigeon 111.

In semi autos the best is Benelli and Beretta, bar none. Prophet River firearms had a great sale on the Beretta 391 a while back.

Nova with 28" barrel, zero problems after one year of geese, ducks, and lots of clays. I cant see spending the $$$ for an auto as far as waterfowl are concerned, you wont kill more birds... but whatever cranks yer tractor.

I already own a single shot, bolt action and a pump shotgun ... I'd like to try out a SEMI so I think I'll check out the benelli's this spring ... :D Let's see some more pics of your goosers?! :D
