What is your most recent hunting rig purchase.

Not really sure what OP is looking for - my last purchase, received within past week or so, is Savage Axis II chambered in 7.62x39 in a Scout rifle configuration - ought to be a decent 200 meter deer rifle, although likely does nothing the several 22 magnum on hand, could not do - except perhaps "legal", in most jurisdictions.

Thanks MD :), I'm re-evaluating the 452 Hvy brl in the stable right now.
Hows the Snow Goose season been ?

Hey Doc,how did you do with that 457 WWG?
Sounds like an interesting cartridge...enough so going to look it up on ewe toob and see more about it.
Rob

Not really sure what the raison d'être of the 457 WWG is. Cool/uniqueness maybe ? I initially bought the co-pilot because I thought it was a cool concept and someone local had one cheap (like cheaper than what people are paying for an OEM marlin 1895 the last couple years). I like the takedown feature, but it doesn't take down as quickly as the BLR takedown. The 457WWG is 1/10 in longer than the 45-70. I really don't see it as a necessary upgrade considering what you can get out of the 45-70 and 450 marlin by handloading (or from commercial ammo such as buffalo bore). I haven't really played with it enough to say if shooting regular 45-70 causes accuracy issues such as firing 45-70 out of a 45-90.
I have a pile of brass and commercial ammo that is manufacture by HSM with a 350 gr A-frame. I was glad to have it this year when a grizzly walked up to about 10 yards behind me. Fortunately it ran off when I racked the lever and I didn't have to use it.

A Tikka T3X in .223 Rem with a fast 1:8 twist. Pretty happy with it.

Very envious. It doesn't get much better than that. My guess is that the 243 will get more use. :)

There are some treasures to be found on online auctions, that's for certain! Up in the NWT I'll likely use the 308 for most animals.. aside from maybe wolves and wolverine.

I have a K95 with grade 5 wood I could sell if you're interested.

Thanks, but I'm at my limit (and I'm currently cleaning house and actually giving away parts). :)

I picked up a part of Edmonton History... Custom 6mm Rem. on a Pre-64 Model 70 action, with custom checkered walnut stock. It is marked on the barrel; Wildcat Guns Ltd Edmonton Alta 6mm Rem.

Apparently, Wildcat Guns was a venture that consisted of 2 fellows; Art Bourne and Arlan Johnston from I believe some time in the 1970's. It came out of a local fellow's estate, hardly any rounds through it.

I have yet to fire it...
