A nice Remington 700 Varmint Special out of an estate last week. 222 Rem.
There’s one I wish I’d kept.
Mine was a 243 that I bought at a huge discount in a Sask Co-Op store.
When I was paying for it one of the regulars scoffed at it and said it was no damn good in the bush.
Too long! Too heavy! To light a bullet!
What did I want something like that for?
I pretended to be ashamed as I smiled all the way back to the truck.
That rifle paid for itself 3x in coyote pelts within the next few months.
1977 and 250 dollars well spent.

Well not to often I pick up a factory rifle these days but this one showed up on the mail and I’m really liking it, I haven’t shot it yet but so far it looks good, shoulders well.

Truck is a 20 year old Landrover Defender 130. My only car. Not the most comfortable but keeps me young... I hope.
The stock is a prototype that I want to use for the next deer season. They will be released for sale in a week or two, price will be around 1250 Euro. I never liked the surface structure of visual carbon fibre stocks being very slippery in the wet. Moulded grippy structures are mostly not great as they are rounded off on the surface and don't provide the grip that they promise. This stock has a shark skin type grip area that is very crisp. Most of our hunting is in wet conditions. The stock itself is a monocoque carbon construction with large forged carbon pillar areas.

Sweet, was hoping eventually someone would end up with a Talon model and post so I could see it. I’ve been eyeing a FL Edtn lately, but in the Cal I’m wanting at 26” w/out the brake I could work with. 28” with the brake seems a little too long for the field however.
Winchester 1895
Purchased this in an online auction on Father’s Day which seemed appropriate. I had not viewed in person but the pictures online showed incredible promise. My guess was correct and the inside of the action and barrel are pristine considering it’s 1912 DOP. 1895 in 303 British, appears all original but unsure about a beautiful little insert at the tip of the forend.

2. Completed a several year build up of a Howa Mini parts for an Ultralight build in 6.5 Grendel. Final config wearing the Holosun 507c Green Dot and under 5 lbs without ammo. Should see first blood this fall. 18.5" barrel, slabbed action, fluted bolt with hollowed bolt handle, tungsten cerakote on action/bolt shroud, carbon stock, hinged aluminum bottom metal (4+1).
