What kind of a duck did I just shoot?

I'm not quite sure as to what it is. I thought it was a Gadwall when I shot, but it doesn't quite look like one. It has metallic green hues on the black bars on the wings, with silver feathers as well. The body is almost bronze but not quite like a Gadwall and the bill is grey and black. It's too big for a teal, has the look of a pintail, minus the pintail and is a bit smaller then a Mallard. It's actually very pretty in a subtle sort of way and I'm thinking of getting it stuffed. It's either that or it'll be turned into breasts wrapped in bacon. :p

100% pure Wigeon. We shoot a lot of them up here in the early season. They migrate relatively early. Them and GWT are the only ducks I've shot in the mountains (though I saw 2 pintails on the weekend).

They are "robber" ducks. They literally steal the food from the mouths of diver and coots.

Don't mount it as you will get much better representatives of it if you hunt ducks a lot. Late season, the drakes get an emerald eye spot and a semi-pintail.
