What low power scope for 9.3x62?

My rifle is a Brno ZG-47. The scope is a heavy duplex Leupold VariX-III 1.75-6X32 mounted in Alaska Arms LLC medium QD rings.

Very satisfactory setup.

Great combo and set up. With my ;) 'inexpensive' full wood Zastava, I mounted a Bushnell Elite 3200 that I had kicking around. My set up comes nowhere near the level of yours, but it shoots well. Again, :)VERY nice.

I’m a Leupold guy mostly but the old Bausch & Lomb Balvar 1-5-6x 32mm is about the nicest big game hunting scope for most hunting situations I’d think. It’s clearer than my Leupolds too.

Those vintage B&L scopes including the B&L Elite line and early Bushnell Elite 3200 (those made in Japan) are great value for the money.

Was looking at a Leupold FX-2 2.5×20 ultralite.
6.5 oz.
Is this enough magnification to put on a 9.3x62?

I’m sure you’ve figured things out by now, but Leupold 1.75-6x was a dud and they don’t make them anymore. It got replaced by a 1.5-5x w/ German #4 which mounts up great. I wanted to mix things up and attempted a scope shuffle to throw a FXII 2.5x on to my Model 70 and it’s was a no go. Nowhere near enough length in the scopes tube to get close to the proper eye relief. That’s a bummer…..

Let us know what you ended up with!

PS if anyone know where to find one or is offloading a FXII 3x20 Big Bore let me know I could be interested.

Awesome thread. I have a scopeless 9.3x62 right now too. I am thinking a Leupold 1-5 would be perfect. I had a few 2.5-8s over the years but for whatever reason always prefer their 3-9 or 3.5-10.

I have used both Leupold and Weaver 3X scopes in a number of '62s over the years. Never been disappointed while hunting.

Not hard at all to hold properly for hits into the hear/lung area using whatever reticle they had on any big game animal out to 300 yards.

I find shots on game are easier to make than shots on target, specifically trying to hit a 1" circle at 200 yards vs dumping a handload into the lungs at the same range. My 9.3x62mm has a cheap Hawke 2-7x32 on it and its held up fine to a few shots of Norma Alaska 285gr loads to get on paper, so I'll probably use it until it fails. Not an excellent scope, but good enough. The Bushy Prime 1-4x24mm sitting on my Whelen is definitely clearer and very solid feeling, but I think 2-7x is about right for most hunting rifles out to 300/350 yards.

I’m a big fan of the 1.5-5x20 Leupold for hunting! Not great for target shooting but for moose they seem to work great and they are small and light!! I also like the 2-7 or 2.5-8 for hunting they are really versatile and usually smaller and lighter than the 3-9 out there!!
