What milsurp would you hunt with?

Yes we can agree on that, amazing what patriotism will make you do because I'm usually a fan of "beating the swords into plowshares" and turning mankillers into moose stoppers.

I wish I had my grandfathers K-31.

I also hunt with a Swede in 6.5x55. The bubba'd wood stock was hard on my wrist after breaking it so I swapped it for a synthetic. It's a lot more comfortable to shoot now but a little heavier.

The mantra "beating swords into plowshares" has nothing to do with making moose killers....that org. wants to turn them into pot and pans or car parts...not one spec of gun parts left.

^the mantra "beating swords into plowshares" is from the bible and can be used rhetorically in whatever way I please.

My first military/hunting rifle was a '93 Mauser 7x57 cavalry carbine used in the Boer war c/w Boer stock carvings, the next was a Krag/Jorgansen carbine in 6.5x55. I used a Garand on many occasions, having carried one for a different purpose years before, I did not find it to be too heavy or clumsy. The last was my all time favorite, an HK-91 used regularly until it became a "dangerous weapon" and eventually a prohib, I have also used a TRW M-14 C/A to hunt with before it also became a "dangerous weapon" and we all know where they ended up. After a lapse of several years without a military type hunting rifle, I plan to use my new Tavor to wreak havoc in the gopher patch.

Is it no longer acceptable to use analogies?

I'm not a bible guy but I'm guessing if you take it as literally as my post you are not pleasant to be around.

Next time instead of writing out something I will just say "sporter gud, me do, me no do Swiss gun cuz Swiss"

did they (the good book) mention "moose killers" by chance... and I'm really interested how you plan on killing said moose with said plow...youtube it pls I really want to watch this performance.
Beating swords into plow shares, turning a military weapon into a civilian tool,(doesn't have to be a plow there fkut)a moose gun. Fits quite well.

This is one I did up in the early 1960s with the help of a machinist neighbour.
Its a pre-war VZ24 Mauser in 8X57, all the iron removed, drilled and tapped, bolt handle turned down and bedded into a Husqvarna stock.
Quite a job for a couple novices, its taken Moose, Pronghorn Antelope and decades of Whitetail Deer... still in use today..

Sorry boy's. That prase has been used for years as a rallying cry, mantra, slogan by/for anti-gunners and I've been against any notion of that kind for 30 yrs...I do get a little testy to be around when I see one of their catch fraises .

At my range, I see a lot of hunters with old beat up Lee Enfield 303, and they have been hunting deer with these for ever.
For me I would use my K31. I love it and it is by far the most accurate milsurp I own.
SKS? I have one but for plinking, nothing "serious".

I shot my first deer and numerous others with my Ross M10 with the hacksawed off shortened barrel and forend.

An SKS is basically just a semi-auto .30-30, and frankly a LOT of guys now hunt with them. Just use proper hunting ammo - not surplus FMJ.

That said, my milsurps are for range fun. Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun.

i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my first hunting experience was with a SVT40 and I still think about taking it out today
