What milsurp would you hunt with?

What milsurp would you hunt with in northern Ontario. Can be some pretty thick bush. I was thinking of m38 or m44. Maybe an sks. Black bear and deer.

I would hunt with the Swiss K31. Mine is plenty accurate, 1" at 100 meters is not uncommon if I do my part. Most new hunting rifles with scopes won't do much better. Next would be a hex receiver Mosin M91/30.

At 9 lbs the K31 is fine. Some of my hunting rifles weigh more, .338 at 10lbs and .300 at 11 lbs with scopes. Never had a problem carrying them. The fit and balance is most important not the weight.

When hunting the fun ends when I pull the trigger, then the real work begins.

Speaking in generality, I'm not afraid to hunt with ANY milsurp.
For the most part, tougher, and more reliable than sporting arms. Accurate enough for modest ranges, and enough power, if you choose the one with the cartridge to suit your needs.
Downside, is mostly weight, and sometimes the inability to use a scope. But there are work arounds for at least some of that.

so far, I've used the #1Mk3, the #4, the SKS, the Ross, and the 96 Swede. All work well, and have not let me down.
