What milsurp would you hunt with?

I have hunted and taken moose with my P-14. It was the only rifle I had at the time. I've also hunted with a G-43 and an FN-49, both in 8mm. I've taken a Lee enfield out a time or two and currently own a mosin-Nagant m91 and a '71 Mauser in 11.15mm. I haven't hunted yet with the last two, but I plan to as opportunity arises. I think the Mauser will hit like a ton of bricks on whatever I shoot with it. It is a carbine and quite short and handy for northern Ontario brush hunting, but it is only a single shot with a missing extractor. Funny, they stopped making parts for them sometime in the last 140 years...

I have a K31 and can easily get 2" groups at 100 yards; my best group was 3/4 inch all using the original open sights. If you dress it up with a scope, you can cut that in half. I am not sure about the GP11 ammunition as it was intended for military purposes; so you would need to investigate this a bit. Having fired side by side with the SKS, in my opinion, the SKS is probably not ideal for hunting unless you intend on getting really close.

Took my first deer with a No4 Enfield a couple years ago, have since been packing it for bear. It went bang, deer went flop.

Anyone you handed me. I love hunting, with everything from slingshots to rifles. It's all good, especially ones with some history too them, I get lost thinking of where and by who they've been carried. Heavy isn't an issue for me yet, not that old and soft to where 3 or 4 pounds makes a discernible difference. Most people carry 3-4 pounds of useless crap anyway, most could afford to lose that and carry a neat old rifle with some character.
