That sounds terrible. All my maple syrup this year came out what the maple forums call “ropey” the way I explained it was like Lucas additive. Not right for pancakes, not right for guns.Lucas ATF with some red n' tacky mixed in when I need more viscosity. I would just use automattenfett but it's not as easy to come by.

X2 on both points. I really like Rem Oil aerosol as well though, usually use it for storage etc.G96 Gun Treatment has been good for well over 50 years... no need to look elsewhere.
I have never understood the attraction of using automotive products.
